Anyone here have the Canon G5? I have read some great reviews and I am interested in buying one (well, it could be my birthday present from my lovely wife in June if truth be told!).

It is is a 5mp camera and looks like a compact SLR camera, also takes additional lenses and has a hot shoe for flash.

Just wondered if anyone here has used one of these or the similar 4mp G3....

And you can put a Toshiba 4 Gig Micro Drive in the compact flash slot and get like 40 minutes of movies at full MPEG 2, which is pretty amazing for cam like that.

I have the G2 (2002 model of the G5 minus some new features) and you can't go wrong with this thing. After welcoming our first child last year, I can never be thankful enough for digital photography.

Well everyone, having weighed up the various reviews and also carried out some personal auditioning, I eventually opted for the Canon G3 over the G5. It is identical to the G5 in every way but has 4mmp instead of 5 and has a silver finish rather than black.

It takes fantastic well balanced pictures and comes highly recommended! It has been replaced by the G5 now, but you can still pick up some great bargains if you hunt around.

Once I get used to it, I'll try to post a few pics here.... :)
