Listening to the "2000 Year Old Man" skit, legendary comedic brilliance. Sadly the CD is OOP, used go for $75+.

The mark of a true comedic genius is when a sit-com from nearly 60 years ago still holds up beautifully. RIP

From Coast To Coast Big Mouth:

Alan (gesturing to the array of toupee'd mannequin heads - What do you suggest I do with these?

Laura - Well, there must be some needy bald people.

Alan - Needy bald people! Laura, you're a nut!

TCM posted the tribute lineup. July 28
    8PM-Enter Laughing
    10PM-All Of Me
    Mid-The Comic
    2AM-Where's Poppa
    3:30AM-Oh,God
Now,it is quite possible that they have had that lineup in a vault,as Reiner was 98,but AFAIK,Enter Laughing and The Comic are not available on DVD and Where's Poppa has cult status. Not a bad lineup-quirky, save for Oh,God(a frequent TCM film, owned by parent AT&T/Warner) but still a fine choice and one the masses enjoyed.

Carl Reiner came from the same neighborhood in the Bronx as my mother's family. She talked about seeing him all the time in the local cafeteria having coffee.

I recently got "The Comic" on DVD ("the Sony Choice Collection") which is probably a "direct to disc" DVD-r from Amazon. It's a great movie that Turner Classic Movies has shown before. I especially like the recreations of old Billy Bright (Van Dyke's character) silent films. And Reiner has a cameo in the film as well.

Speaking of TCM, here's the "TCM Remembers" for Carl Reiner that contains a montage of some of his notable film roles.

I have the BluRay cued up for tonight. In a re-release many years ago and for some unknown reason, it was re-titled “Going Ape.” Look for Rob Reiner and Penny Marshall in the courtroom scene and Garrret Morris as a mugger.

A friend of mine occasionally corresponded with Carl on Twitter, and said Carl once chastised him for spelling his name wrong. My friend replied “I'm lysdexic and won't let it happen again.” He said Carl thought that was pretty funny.

I wish that I could see the TCM tribute marathon, but we no longer get it anymore sadly.

CBS is going to run the “Coast to Coast Bigmouth” episode of “Dick Van Dyke” on Friday night at 8:00 pm. One of the funnest half hours of TV ever.

Because MeTV is having the Sunday special and will be featuring Reiner all month on TDVDS, they have recut some of the promos with Reiner apparently shot in 2019 and MeTV is running them.

Just watched the lovely documentary about Rose Marie - Wait For Your Laugh - and Reiner shows up quite a bit to reminisce about the Dick Van Duke Show. Van Dyke himself also is part of it, looking incredibly youthful well into his 90s.

You could really see the affection they all had for one another.

    Carl Reiner’s Fairy-Tale Ending
Just days before he died, the 98-year-old recorded the closing scene as the storytelling grandfather in the fan-film version of The Princess Bride. It started out as a tribute to his son Rob’s movie. It turned into the sweetest possible goodbye.
