It's too bad it isn't selling well -- I guess the singles just haven't caught on. It's too bad she didn't have the GNR band appear on the album -- that could have helped it get some extra attention!

This is one of my favorites on the album (and btw, I actually like "Ghost Story" much better after a few listens than when I listened initially):

Just ran to Target to pick up the new Lizzo vinyl and saw they had Carrie’s gospel album for $8.39 — for that price, I’m glad I never picked it up before!!

It seems that Capitol hasn't promoted this album very well -- I mean having the vinyl only available from her online store a month after release makes no sense... AND there's a cassette version coming -- on August 5th! I bet if they had all these releases available at the same time, the chart placing would have improved somewhat...

It's disappointing because I like the sound she's going for here and would rather she continue this style!

Yes, they haven’t helped her this time. I’m sure if the vinyl had been available generally from the day of release, sales would have been much better. First week sales were something like 28,000, I believe. Pitifully low for Carrie

Plus -- why only have it available through her store? I can't be the only one that wants a vinyl copy LOL Also, if they had to wait ONLY a month for the vinyl, why not just adjust the release date accordingly -- would it have mattered that much?

It’s like they want to lose money.:)

I bought the new Harry Styles CD a few weeks ago. It’s utter tat with one of those thin cardboard gatefold sleeves that looks like it cost pennies to produce. And you have to remove the CD via a slot in the middle of the gatefold! I found out there was a much nicer ‘casebook’ edition that has a 32 page booklet and vastly improved packaging. But it’s only available from Harry’s website and sold out weeks ago!

They had this casebook packaging option on his debut album too, but that was available generally. Still is. Why limit an album like Harry’s House, which is a huge seller, to that one basic CD? It makes no sense!

Honestly it's not wonder the music biz is in the crapper with regards to selling new music!

BTW, Carrie's gospel album is not bad -- not a favorite, so definitely glad I paid under $10 (USD) for it!

I've been in my local HMV three or four times since the album was released and have yet to see the CD in there. However, they do have her Gospel album featured on the 'Specialist Music' section regularly.

I appreciate that she still comes here to the UK and I'll always be grateful she did an arena tour here in 2019 but for whatever reason, her music and overall brand just seem destined not to catch on mainstream-wise here.

I received my vinyl copy of Carrie's new album today and except for it being a pretty shade of purple, it is a very bare bones package: no gatefold sleeve, no printed inner sleeve or insert with lyrics or album credits... it seems that maybe Carrie's time at Capitol is coming to an end...

It points to that, doesn’t it?

I’m surprised they didn’t make an effort with the vinyl. The CD is actually quite nice!

I was there for one of her GNR appearances.

All I can say is - good thing she was there to help Axl with the high notes (dear old Axl was struggling with his throat that night).

(Oi, who shouted 'Axl always sounds like he is struggling with his throat '?!)

I mean they could just throw a CD booklet in there if they didn't want to go through the expense of printing an inner sleeve LOL

It’s the opposite of the current trend. Where vinyl versions are lovingly put together, but the CD is trash.

According to her UK Twitter fan page, a Deluxe Edition is coming.

Really you'd think she'd have moved on from this already and started/finished work on a follow-up...

I really liked Denim & Rhinestones, but apparently this was the first Carrie album to flop hard. I can’t follow the US country singles chart anymore, so I’m not sure if any of the songs were hits or not.

I agree she’d have been better off coming up with something new, rather than trying to revive a flop album/era. Of course, Carrie is now around the age a lot of female country acts start to struggle to get airplay. It seems like yesterday when Some Hearts came out to me.:D

I don't really keep up with charts and such either but according to Wikipedia, Denim and Rhinestones was the 66th best-selling Country album of 2022. That does seem incredibly low. Too Pop and modern for the Country fans and too Country for the Pop and modern fans maybe? I love the album from front to back and am still listening to it after a year.

I also liked the album, but considering it didn’t do all that well sales or chart wise, it seems time to move on..

Six new tracks is halfway to a new 12-track project — or even more towards a 10-track album, with a few “live” bonus tracks tacked on!

Sad thing is, had Denim & Rhinestones c0me out 5 or 6 years ago, it’d have probably done very well.

And of course one of the new songs has to reference a truck!

I haven’t listened to any of the new songs yet. Do they fit in with the style of the original album?

I haven’t listened yet, just read the press blurb earlier!

Follow-up to my previous message which includes the "Truck" tune: to me neither of the new songs is as good as the tracks on the original album.

    Here's the other new one:

Both are OK. Unlikely to turn her fortunes around though.

I quite like D&R as the 12 track album it is! I was playing Cry Pretty the other day. There’s more depth and variety to that record, but Denim & Rhinestones is more fun!

I agree about the original D&R album. I thought it was the perfect number of songs and the perfect length! I doubt that either of these singles will make much of a splash nor will they improve the D&R album fortunes!
