Hello, I’d love some advice on a new cartridge.

    My setup:
    1990s Rega Planar 3
    RB300 tonearm
    Dynaco ST70 tube amp
    Sony TA2000F preamp
    JSE Infinite Slope .6 speakers

I listen to a variety of music, a mix of vintage and new. Some records are old and not the best quality. Disco, electronic, jazz, rock, reggae, dub, r&b, ambient...

    Budget - under $500

I’m not extremely confident in setting up a cartridge that requires spacers, or anything over complicated to set up, but open to it if that’s going to get me the best cartridge for my money.

    Thanks for your help

Budget under $500 ? The exact is a $600 cartridge. Audio Technica makes a fine lineup of cartridges in your stated price range. The Audio Technica VM540ML is an excellent cartridge at under $250.

Thanks everyone for the input. I found an exact on eBay from 2juki in Hong Kong for under $400. Anyone have experience buying from him?

I have bought an AT ART 9 and other carts from 2juki, and the shipping was very fast with the carts well packed.
    Very satisfied!

My Sony TA 2000f has various impedance settings (82, 47, 33 kΩ). I can’t seem to find this spec for the rega Exact cartridge. Anybody know?

I believe that the specs are 100pf and 47000 ohms loading.
