I had just gotten into Christian Rock in 1986. The only thing that was on my playlist from here was "15 Doors." Really liked that entire album, actually. But I looked at the CCM charts similarly to how I looked at the other charts; mostly not my thing.
    Cool post though, Brad.

Two songs from The Big Picture. I certainly listened to that tape a lot back in the day, and I think I will pull it up on Spotify. It'll be interesting to see how many songs I can still sing along with.

i 2 Eye and Go West Young Man were the two MWS records I listened to the most as a teen. "Place in this World" was so perfectly designed to hit teens seeking to know themselves. I listened to that one over and over - I'll bet I could even hum along with the guitar solo still.

Was there a Christian Hard Rock/Metal chart in 1986? I'll bet there was by 1990 or so.

The 1986 chart I just posted has some good stuff on it, especially Every Moment by D&K for one of the highlights, another being Love Can Do by Amy Grant, Wired For Sound by MWS, the Chris Eaton track is great, lots of Stryper fans on this forum and they will be happy with Calling On You, Greg X. Volz's Hold On To The Fire being another great one, Allies put out a lot of great music and Bob Carlisle was the lead vocalist.

Ahh. "The Pool". What a great, great song. It was the First DA song I owned on CD by virtue of it being on a Frontline sampler.

It's also interesting to me that Youth Choir had morphed into The Choir by December. The difference a few months and one album can make.

There's some great stuff on this list. I wonder how well it holds up?

I'll bet Allies doesn't. I know Altar Boys is pretty dated-sounding, but that's a terrific song.

Freedom is still a great album. Gordon Kennedy is one of my all time favorite guitarists.

I wore that tape out in high school. I used to play "Bye Bye Babylon" over and over.

I bet that as you see these best selling CCM album charts, that a lot of you will have memories of this stuff. Many of the CCM albums that a lot of the fans on this forum still like to this day are on this chart.

I own 22 from the list of 50, and seven out of ten from five years earlier. Pretty surreal to see Tonio K just above Jimmy Swaggart. Go Tonio! Thanks for posting this!

I still love The Call. I was kind of surprised to see them represented on a CCM chart - actually two tracks on the Sept. '86 chart.

When I saw Russ Taff live in '90 he did a fantastic cover of "I Still Believe".

Yes. Russ' version of that song is top notch. It is, in fact the title for the documentary film on Russ life which is coming out this fall.
