The compact disc got a bad deal. The compressed mess, wasn't its fault.

Nonsense! I buy records, SACDs, CDs, and cassettes. If I can hold the format in my hands I buy it.

No, they’ll be manufacturers of CD players. Too many CDs in circulation.

I had to laugh at the turntable shown in the article headline. I don't care how good your vinyl is, playing it on a Crosely (or similar) will sound like crap. Yes, CD mastering has taken a turn for the worse over the past 15 years. Brickwalling is an abomination. But most of that vinyl is going to suffer from the same poor mastering choices. #FormOverSubstance

Stopped buying records back in 1984 and never looked back. Still buying CDs now and that will not change.

The Mini LP CD is the best format. Can we stop with the plastic trays in digipaks - it’s not beautifying. The nice thing about CDs is their durability compared to vinyl. It takes much more care to keep vinyl in near mint condition. I realize now that CDs, specifically mini LP CDs, will be a strong niche next to vinyl, Robin to its Batman.

we got master tape quality in many releases that should last forever, bonus tracks unheard of in vinyl, great mastering,
ULTRA convenience! too bad they had to destroy perfection!

CD sales would be falling even if every one of them was mastered to perfection. Most people would much rather stream music than buy it on little silver disc OR big black disc.

CD's in a bag or binder is not ULTRA convenience. Your entire collection on a tiny player in your shirt pocket is ULTRA convenience. Streaming is more ULTRA than that.
