This was a different seller to the last stuff. Really pleased with it.

I bought my first chazza LP in ages yesterday, Back in The DHSS by Half Man Half Biscuit, £2-25 in Sue Ryder, Garstang. Sleeve’s a bit scuffed but an absolute joy nonetheless. I’ve stopped looking for vinyl for the most part but was persuaded to look through by the torrential rain outside.

And that’s the second mention for Garstang in this new thread!

 

There was an incredible Miles Davis collection there until last night, over 50 CDs/sets, some Japanese, a few sealed. No-one had bought it in over a week of it being up. Too much stuff I already had, and I'm too skint this month to buy big lots, so I let a friend know and he snapped up the lot. He even negotiated a discount, paid £75 plus a little postage. There's treasure if you dig deep, like anywhere else.

 

Good buy, I love HM/HB. It's worth checking out some of their more recent albums.

A couple in Carnforth this morning:
Elements - The Best Of Mike Oldfield, 99p. Nice to have a compilation of his music that only has one Tubular Bells track.
Love Affair - the best of the Good Times, £1. Some great pop songs, have wanted a compilation by them for ages.

Also got a Frank Sinatra biography, 50p.

While I was in the shop, Beautiful Stranger was playing over a radio, and I came out with an Austin Powers - International Man of Mystery DVD, £1 (yes, I know it's a different movie to the one that that song is in, but that's subliminal advertising for you).

A couple from the wilds of Beccles today. Barcode is a self released jazz thing, and was 25p. The lesser spotted Neil Young was £1. We were planning on going down by the river (the Waveny) for another picnic lunch, but there was nowhere left to park, so we went to the cemetery instead and had a very pleasant and peaceful trundle, him on foot, me on my mobility scooter.



Yesterday I bought this excellent CD for £4, from the cafe/emporium in Thorpeness. CDs there are usually all three for £5, but an exception was made for this one. It was by far the best thing in there of course.

That charity shop, is it Hospice, all the women's clothes downstairs colour coded, next to British Legion and the chippy, across the road from the 2nd hand jewellers with the Rolexes in, CDs all priced up on the 2nd floor. Was gonna have the Alexander O'Neal, looked like an '80s original, took it downstairs, they wanted like 4 quid! Uh, no thanks

That one right in town near the rammed 'spoons, got some great blu-rays in there last week (15 quid retro Amazon stuff for £1.25 each IIRC). Did you see the dressed up chimp in the window nearby? Was tempted to take a pic of that, stick on here lol, but might trigger another thread displacement

 

The St Eliz, yes, with the recent-ish policy of individually pricing CDs, now glued to the shelves to match the overpriced LPs that pre-date the first lockdown. They have an £8 Michael Jackson cassette too. The Alexander O'Neal was still there today.

The big gorilla in the gift shop window is a permanent fixture, been there for years. It certainly draws the eye.

Beccles chazzas are mostly terrible for music, with the odd good find once or twice a year.

 

That's a very unusual Neil Young to come across in the wild. I had to resort to a new copy of that for a fiver, as it was the only one still eluding me.

Found a great thrift shop not far from me and one I haven't been to before. Yesterday during lunch I took a drive over and in the CDs I found the soundtrack album to La Bamba! Have never seen it before so I grabbed it. Only cost $1.00!

Also found an illustrated history of the Grand Ole Opry there which had a program from an Opry show tucked in between a couple pages! Not really that old, but a great find of the book bought by someone who actually attended a show and probably bought the book right after!

 

Couldn't resist the Dr. Who lamp (The Tardis makes a noise if you push open the doors) for $10 USD.
The Phil Keaggy CD is a collection of 3 early 1980s CDs Town To Town, Ph'lip Side and Play Thru Me. Not a big listener to Christian music but from what I hear he's a great guitarist.
Do you guys in the UK come across Easton Press reissues done in leather and gold-leaf pages? I found this nice volume of short stories by Charles Dickens. The company does collections (pricey) from all genres from classics to science fiction. Sometimes you see individual volumes in our thrifts...sometimes they are signed. I have a few of those but not big names. It's an American book company.

 

We're licencing some tracks to Cherry Red, so I cheekily asked if they'd send me some Doctor Bird CDs, got these today, very happy.

 

Got a late-1970s' US copy of a Johnny Nash compilation today, Besame Mucho, £2. Bit disappointed in what I saw when I removed the Barnardo's price sticker.

The Great Society is one of my favourite 60s groups from San Francisco. The last track on the CD, Father, is a headphones listen for me, turned up loud!

Bryn Haworth is another great Christian guitarist, with a 1960s background with Fleur de Lys. Bryn and the band back Sharon Tandy on both sides of this great 45.

I accidentally became a Tardis collector, keep on meaning to get them all together, not sure how many I've ended up with, but they include a small one from a game, a Corgi one, a really nice resin one, the Lego one, the Tardis play set, the big one full of soundtrack CDs and possibly some others, I never intender to collect them one day I just realised I had a galaxy of Tardi, and yes I would have bought that lamp.

 

Do you have the one which housed Trial Of A Timelord VHS?

No, I do still have some VHS tapes, but never saw or picked up that one.

 

Good catch on the NY CD ended up spending like a tenner on Ebay for it! not a bad album either if you like country.
