The movies are all worth it. The music discs not so much.

The Crowded House Opera House farewell is an iconic concert. I've got the Eurythmics CD box so I thought the DVD would be a nice companion piece and I've just watched Daisy Jones & the Six so how bad could the Mac DVD be? :D

I'm certainly envious of the Fleetwood Mac DVD!

There are very good extras on Crowded House's Farewell To The World, including an unreleased Crowded House studio recording.

A few stores near me sell 10 DVDs for £1. Some stick with 50p each or £1 sealed.

I did manage to pick up 4 seasons of The Wire on a 10 for £1 deal (season 5 was sealed).

I don't remember if I mentioned it in this thread (probably did), but one thrift store I frequent charges $1.85 each for DVDs (and depending on who prices them in the back, complete seasons of TV series can be anywhere from $1.85 a season, and now I see they're charging $7.45 for single seasons of 'The Waltons').

Goodwill charges a flat $1.99 per DVD/Blu-Ray whether it's a single disc or a complete season of a TV show.

From what I've read in this (and other threads on these forums), the prices my local thrifts charge do seem steep compared to what some other have mentioned, but they seem to have a fairly high turnover rate on their DVD & CDs, so it's working for them. I do wish they were lower though, but I don't think they'll ever lower their prices.

I remember about 4 years ago when I first really got into going to thrift stores, the one I frequent the most was charging $1 for DVDs and .50c for CDs-Now, as I've mentioned, their prices for most DVDs/CDs is $1.85 each.

yes, that's a drag but it may get better if and when they get more product or people catch on that there are lower prices out there and go elsewhere...and they sell less...

Whenever I see people picking up boxsets for pennies, I think...why doesn't that ever happen with me?

    Well now it has.

A small local charity shop I'd never been to before, had a "2 for £1" offer on all their DVDs. Whether single discs or multiple-disc sets. I left with a dozen ER boxsets for £6. I'd have bought the other two they had as well, but they were missing discs/and or looked a bit suspect with clouding on the surface.

Like you, I skip them if they're missing a disc, but as far as looking 'foggy', I used to be like you and skip those as well, but I have had a change of heart on that and will buy them if it's something I want or think I'll really like-They usually clean up pretty good.

Keep an eye out for the three seasons of Porridge, plus the film. I see the DVDs of the TV series from time to time, and got my three from charity shops. The best thing he was in imo.

Two of the Open All Hours series have the silver BBC cases, like the Dr Who releases did at first. So if anyone needs those for replacements I can easily swap them for clear ones I have spare.

Just curious...do you watch the episodes with or without the laugh track?

Without! In the earlier British DVD seasons there are a couple of episodes that don't have the option, so you have to put up with the laugh track. Quite astonishing how fake it sounds.

    Oh! It's terrible.
Although some like to hear it as it tells them when it's time to laugh.

If British M*A*S*H DVDs can have the option, then why can't the American? Or wouldn't there be enough consumer interest or demand now in re-releasing the show?

I never liked the show on TV as a kid. I'm wondering if the laugh track put me off!
