You should always travel with a copy of the Beatles mono vinyl box set under your arm for this reason, maybe adding a 99p sticker for fun
I would also like to add the following: • American Pie • The Devil Wears Prada I know, I know. Usually, I wouldn’t. It was just an absent-minded moment, never to be repeated. As penance, I will now spend years searching for that DVD.
I've got around 200 Blu-rays & probably 80% of them have come from our local thrift store for $1-1.50. TV season sets they charge $3 for. I bought all seasons of Lost & The Leftovers off of eBay for much cheaper than new retail. It has to be something I really want to go over $5. I've probably got enough to watch for a good long time.
I don't really look for DVD's while in the thrifts, but lately I've been checking for a couple of titles that are quite pricey new or used: The Kids Are Alright (The Who) - bluray Breaking Away - both bluray and standard DVD are expensive
Synchronicity rears it's disturbing head once again... I just picked up the 'Almost Famous' soundtrack CD for $1.
I also see an Adam Sandler DVD with three -count ' em , three ! - of his 'classic' films. What a bargain!
Almost didn't see ' The Devil Wears Prada ' lurking in the corner. This picture has more depth and hidden things than the Zapruder film.
I got all 3 seasons of the Inbetweeners at a charity shop for $1 each. I liked the first movie quite a lot but didn't like the second one. Felt the first movie was a nice conclusion to where the series left off.
Three today, all £1 each: • The End of the Affair (1955) • Diamonds Are Forever (1971) • For Your Eyes Only (1981) I seem to be collecting Bond DVDs – even the bad ones.
Years ago, a Salvation Army shop near me had someone donating Twilight Time Blu-rays, so I kept buying them - these were two of the Sinbad movies from the 70's and the animated film WHEN THE WIND BLOWS. From the same store, I also got Criterion Blu-Ray discs of THE 39 STEPS and THE LADY VANISHES. All this didn't last long, but I was lucky. I couldn't play the Criterions until I got an all-region Laser brand Blu-Ray player, but I'm glad I purchased them all. Some of them were under $5 AU. Nothing like this has come up since. Right place, right time.
Went out with this girl once and one night we were at her place and I discovered that her carpet didn't match her drapes. Didn't matter though.
Another five today (and some are double sets): • Black Hawk Down — 50p • Cowboys and Aliens — 99p • Downfall — 50p • In the Heart of the Sea — 50p • Knowing Me, Knowing You with Alan Partridge – 50p Of these, I have only seen the Partridge. Any thoughts on the first four?
Black Hawk Down is one of my favourite films, Downfall is very good as well. It's where the Hitler Downfall parodies on Youtube come from.
