Bless you Charlie. You will live forever as one of the absolute great gentlemen, and magnificent drummer.
In spite of his health being news lately a shock nonetheless and terribly, terribly sad. It makes me wonder why Keith still wants to play anymore when people like Booby Keys and now Charlie aren't around anymore.
Thoughts are with his family, his friends and of course the band. RIP Charlie, you absolute legend of a man.
And those were "rock star years", which are like dog years, so he was actually 560. Hell of a run, Mr Watts.
Just listened to "Get Yer Ya Ya's Out" this morning and now I see this. My heart breaks. RIP to true legend:
Oh man! I feel sick... I'll never forget the utter joy I felt when informed my $79 lottery tickets for the 50 And Counting tour were PIT tickets. I had the time of my life that night. Thank you for the tunes Charlie!
Don Everly and Charlie Watts in one week. Sad couple of days for the music world Very happy to have gotten to enjoy a 2019 Rolling Stones show at Soldier Field which included Charlie. I’ll enjoy seeing Mick, Keith and Ronnie next month but it won’t be the same without the ‘ol man this time around…
Indeed & absolutely!! Don't have it in front of me, so... to any/all Stones fans out there: ~Which track on "Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out" has the "Charlie's good tonight, isn't he?" intro banter? A dear musician friend is returning home this afternoon & I'd like to have it cued up for him (via online streaming services)- we were discussing him just the other night (oddly enough the night Don Everly passed... tough week for such things...) *Just found a later post here (they are arriving a fast & furiously) that seems to indicate "Little Queenie"?
Terrible news, it’s strange but you trick yourself into believing that the Stones, McCartney, etc. will be around forever. I’m glad he made it to 80 and was still healthy and active until his final months. What a legacy he leaves behind. A genuine legend.
I'm gonna say it. The heart and soul of that band. RIP Charlie "Charlie's good tonight.... ain't he?"
