it's always important to wish a fellow musician Happy Birthday even if you are not familiar with their music! well, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Thank you for sharing this. That’s a great performance of Total Interferencia from the album Piano Bar in 1985.
One interesting story is when i went to see The Who in Argentina in 2017 (i am from Chile) is that i had the chance to meet Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey in the backstage before the concert. While we were waiting Roger Daltrey opened the door, very funny and charming and in his arms he was carrying like 5 vinyl records. While i was watching the records under his arms i noticed that the LPs were of Charly García and all were autographed by Charly! I couldn’t believe it so i ask him, Hey Roger, those records are of Charly García!!! And he told me, yeah, we were with Charly talking a few minutes ago, nice guy! He gave me these records all signed by him. It was really funny because there i was meeting my life heroes and suddenly my mind i was thinking Where is Charly?? I need to meet him! Of course i didn’t, i stayed with Pete and Roger. Here are some photographs
García is a big Who fan. His first solo album features a quote by Pete Townshend in the inner sleeve.
Great Story. I live in Chile, grew up in Brasil and only became aware of Charly in the late 80s. Great musician, great songs, rock and roll to the vein.
That’s right, this the quote by Pete Townshend that appeared in the first solo album by Charly Garcia called “Yendo de la Cama al Living” “If it screams truth rather than help, if it commits itself with a courage that it can't be sure it really has, if it stands up and admits that something is wrong, but doesn't insist on blood, then it's rock n' roll.”
Totally agree. The Unplugged show by Charly is really amazing. Recently was reissued for the first time on vinyl!
Ha, ha, ha ! The bi-coloured moustache. There's a long story behind it... Imo, Charly's first solo album (Yendo de la cama al living) is the best way to try out some of his solo stuff. His classic eighties albums are also excellent, but they may sound dated. Clicks modernos and Piano bar are stand outs. Cómo conseguir chicas is a favourite of mine that gets overlooked frecuently. At the same time you should check out the four classic albums of Serú Girán a true supergroup if there ever was one. Serú Girán and La grasa de las capitales are more progressive than Bicicleta and Peperina, but all four are awesome.
Touching. Que buena amiga es la Hilda! Cuidando de él en cada instante y al mismo tiempo salvando el show con su energía.
Estaba pasada de rosca, un bochorno. Si hubiera coordinado voces con la Ortega, el caos no hubiera sido tanto.
