Thanks for the thread idea. A few for you: Casino Royale (1967) Casino Royale (2006) Coogan’s Bluff (1968) Every Which Way But Loose (1978) The Hustler (1961) Croupier (1998) His Kind Of Woman (1951) Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang (2005) There’s many more possibilities. I’ll think of a few more, then add them on.
Same here, except that I went by myself (I wanted to see Patton) and my mother told me to tell them I wasn't going to stay for MASH (rated R). They didn't ask, but I had no desire to see MASH anyway (and my mother, who didn't like war movies, I assume picked me up when the movie was over). Seemingly different, they actually both were anti-Vietnam War movies IMO.
A few more off the top of my head . . . The Hudsucker Proxy and Meet John Doe Meet John Doe and Network Network and The Hospital Richard Jewell and Absence of Malice Barton Fink and Eraserhead Citizen Kane and There Will Be Blood
Bugsy / Casino The Conversation / Enemy Of The State I mean, Enemy of the State is practically the sequel. Though not nearly as good, it's still fun.
You could pair any two of a number of what I refer to as "post-apocalypse" New York City movies (Marathon Man, The French Connection, Serpico, Dog Day Afternoon, etc.). Some were comedies, like The Out of Towners.
