I just watched a movie that was not your typical Christmas boy meets girl (or more likely, girl is engaged to a toad but ultimately finds the right guy right under her nose.)

It is titled The Christmas Candle and it is about believing. It is based on a Max Lucado book and is available on Netflix streaming. I thought it was a very good movie, but it is about religion, belief and miracles (as is the celebration of Christmas, really) so some here may not feel as I did about the movie. Oh, and it has Susan Boyle in it...singing, of course!

I always give my wife a printout of the schedule for the Hallmark movies each year so she can program them on her TiVo.

This year I included this which I ran across in a Hallmark Christmas movie thread on another forum...

As men, you should be ashamed of yourselves watching cheesey hallmark Christmas movies.

What’s the one with Kurt Russell in prison with the E-Street Band (and the crap CGI elves)? Saw part of it the other night on Netflix but missed the beginning and end. Worth a repeat/full viewing?

No apology necessary. I was hoping a few people would chuckle over the reference. It’s so tacky that it’s funny!

    I could also post

“A Very Brady Christmas” to inflict more cringe upon us.

    Merry Christmas!

Yes, I liked it. And if you missed the Jailhouse/Elvis/E Street Band jam, you DEFINITELY need to watch it.

The Christmas Chronicles. A thread on it here: Thanksgiving evening on Netflix -The Premier of The Christmas Chronicles (2018)

As you can guess from my avatar, I thought the movie was very cool. The elves didn't bother me as much as they seem to bother most (my wife hated them too). I wouldn't say it is a great movie but it is very enjoyable and different from the usual.

I'll try to catch the film over the holidays. Enjoyed what little I saw. Does he sing with the 'jail' band in any other parts of the movie?

No that's the only singing & the jail is the only time you see Little Steven and his band. Part of me was hoping they would feature more later in the story but they do not. (Hope that's not a spoiler.)
