I won’t go into all of the all of the reasons I despise Xmas, just a few of them. Religious, which I am not at all; forced consumerism, which I am totally against, and obligatory family gatherings. I’m at an age that if none of the above make me happy, I choose not to partake.

I remember seeing this when I was 9 on some obscure station on Christmas Eve. It felt like a fever dream. Weird movie. Hooray for Santy Claus is an earworm though.

Was on here on an obscure channel in the UK on Christmas Eve. Never seen it before totally weird/awful, but had something about it. Me and the Mrs couldn't believe what we were watching. .

IMHO, (and many others from what I've read) of all the movie adaptations, this one is the most authentic and faithful of all to the book. Alastair Sim's performance is menacing, hilarious and heartbreaking. Several other standout performances as well (his housekeepeer and Bob Cratchit) What I've been appreciating more is how the lighting is used, the shadows in many of the scenes are used to really set the mood and tone of the story. One of those movies that's definitely better in B&W, forget the colorized version. The film score is excellent as well. I strongly recommend this version to anyone who hasn't seen it. It really is a treat for fans of the story, as well as film buffs in general.

These 2 (the Sim Scrooge and Wonderful Life) are the Christmas movies we chose to watch this year.

It made me wonder - has Wonderful Life never had a remake?

Watched "Home Alone" last night on ABC. Hadn't seen it since it was first released in theaters. It just seemed so different from what I remembered. A completely different emotional response that had me scratching my head. Clearly it was restored from all the detail but my response to such a classic didn't sit well with me for some reason. It didn't feel Christmas-y.

I wanted to watch "A Christmas Story" but it wasn't airing anywhere on my Spectrum cable basic package.

Wrapped up Christmas yesterday with the best Christmas movie, of course.

It was even on HBO Max on the Christmas page, with other Christmas-adjacent flicks.
