I know some critics haven't been kind to this new show, but compared to other FBI shows on CBS, such as Criminal Minds, FBI, and FBI Most Wanted, I think it's pretty good. No, it's not as creepy or atmospheric as Hannibal, but it's a lot less weird, too! I do hope the constant tension between Clarice and Krendler diminishes over time, but I plan to stick with it. (Yes, there are a few references to this show in the Hannibal thread, but I thought it deserves its own thread.)
That relationship is the one major turn off for me, about as derivative and contrived than the other FBI investigative shows on CBS you listed. I'ld rather watch "Evil" which I'm hoping they'll bring back. And freakin' make it clear when it does. I found I missed several episodes of "Big Sky" on ABC once I saw last week's episode and decided not to follow it. The premier was very gripping and disturbing. Lot's of surprises. The networks have got to be getting pounded with lack of viewership from this pandemic due to all the competing streaming and cable shows.
I was really hoping this would be a show I enjoyed but I only lasted 20 minutes. Without a Hannibal type character I thought it seemed like a CSI episode.
Wow, what an immature and cliche-filled piece of filmmaking. I can't believe how bad that was, and I'm pretty forgiving! Network tv is getting so embarrassing.
I haven't seen any of the cop shows mentioned by the OP but my wife watches them a lot. And I only watched the movie Silence of the Lambs once. So we watched Clarice together. I found it dark and muddy, the scene where she and the good FBI guy were driving somewhere there was a stupid high volume of meaningless noise competing with their conversation. Why? But the first thing I said was , was Whoa, is that Ellen Errin Page?
I have this DVR'd but haven't bothered. These comments have me mostly convinced to push the delete button. I cannot remember the last network show that was really worth watching (perhaps the first year or so of Blacklist.
I watched the initial episode and it was bad. That music they were playing during the hour....it seems to be aimed directly at university-aged females. And the forced tension between Clarice and her boss was just a turn-off.
Oh, they were great, but for me, the show went downhill during the last few seasons. (Writing, acting, you name it.)
I love the first few seasons. There’s episodes throughout them that I thought were some of the best episodes in tv history. And that includes the blasphemous opinion that they were as good or better that “peak tv” shows haha.
I loved the Hannibal series but this was a disappointment. Abraham from the walking dead is the boss and he seems like a total jerk in this.
i liked it and will definitely stick with it for a while. the contentious ego battle between the boss and clarice has to stop though, that will grow very tiresome very fast.
As she continues to "prove" herself, I suspect it will. I agree that it will get old fast if it doesn't...and Michael Cudlilitz ("Paul Krendler") isn't exactly a nuanced actor!
I think it's utterly terrible - stupidly written, poorly acted, horrendously overblown in visual style. Avoid.
Cast is good, but the dialog was awful. Going to give it a chance for the cast and hope the show is better than the pilot.
This is what happens when you rush out a show just to cash-in on a popular fad. They should've let it bake for another 30 years.
