Want to know how they decided which box sets to reduce? They looked at which ones I’ve bought recently and went for them. Typical
I know I'm repeating myself, but if there is a hard Brexit within the next few days or weeks buyers in the EU are advised to be careful, as tax/import charges may be payable when ordering from the UK.
Thank you for posting this! Does anyone here have any feedback for the Chailly box? https://smile.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07FPJZJRK/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_1?smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&psc=1
The second Vivarte box is only €39.99 at jpc.de at the moment. That's the cheapest I've ever seen for this one. Vivarte Collection (60 CDs) – jpc
Sorry. Edit: Climbing on top of 60 CDs for that price is not exactly a steep cliff. Just a small one.
Just found L’Oiseau+Lyre Baroque Era on Amazon. Never mind that I have painstakingly purchased 46 of the discs over the past three months, including all 5 of the Universal Italia Hogwood boxes + his Beethoven and Mozart Symphony boxes.
I happened to have an MA tax refund begging to be spent, so instead of a night out for two at Mooo... I went for it.
Just to report that I received my "Quartetto Italiano - Complete Decca, Philips & DG Recordings" box set from Amazon ("Like New," $68, incl. shipping). I was wondering what a "Like New" item would look like. To my surprise, the box had never been opened and was in its original shrink wrap. The only thing I could see was a slight, barely noticeable dent on one of the top edges of the box, which did not have any effect whatsoever on the contents. So, happy to report that everything worked out OK in this instance.
I am happy to report that I just received my Quartetto Italiano box and is definitely not a bootleg (or an EXTREMELY well done one...) so, for $45 with free shipping, brand new, still wrapped I am VERY pleased. Regular browsing on Ebay pays off.
The easiest way to find out if a CD is a bootleg is to turn it over and look at the matrix info around the inner hole. You should see proper catalogue numbers on there, or maybe a small UNIVERSAL logo, or Sony DADC, stuff like that, depending on where your CD was pressed.
Yep, numbers are there, plus 4 Universal logos, as you mentioned Also, Signore Haydn just arrived from Italy, in double box (who are you and what did you do with Amazon?) and in pristine condition. So far a very nice day.
Very glad to hear that, Sir. Now you can put your mind at rest about the provenance of the box. You have the real thing.
Thank you! And the sound is great, I sampled just a couple of CDs and even the mono recordings sound awesome!
Maybe I'm looking in the wrong places, but jpc is the only spot I'm seeing advance listings for the Bruno Walter Columbia set. I'm definitely on board for buying this one around late June, but in the meantime I'd like to price-shop a little, or see some pics or other details . . . Anyone seen other listings please? Thanks all! Actually . . . same Q's regarding the Firkusny RCA/Columbia box come to think of it!
