Same here... very frustrating... just updated to: Arriving Jan 5, 2020 - Feb 3, 2020 I ordered 8/31. They screwed me on Szell also, ordered early and never shipped. I’m done with them for this stuff, I need to find a specialist retailer for classical.
Mine was delivered a few days ago, I think you will be surprised how BIG this box is! As you say it was an `unmissable` price, I have only sampled it so far but have really enjoyed what I have heard.
Hello Malinky, Thank you for sharing this information. This is exactly the feature I do not like in some box-sets, for example the Itzhak Perlman Warner box. To have an outer box far too big to the amount of CD´s included in the box. I think a collection with (only) 79 CD´s such as the Callas´ should be smaller. Due to 2 reasons: 1) It would be easier to store it at home, and the amount of space remaining (if any) for other future boxes would not be reduced so drastically. 2) It would be easier to hide it from my wife By the way, where have you bought your box from, and how well packet it arrived? Has it arrived in good shape? Regards, DB
Just at the very moment when I was finishing reading a disappointing email from Amazon that the Walter box set now has an estimated delivery date of Jan 5-Feb 3 I got an email from Target that my order has shipped and it will arrive via UPS on Tuesday Dec 10. I just cancelled my Amazon preorder and I am crossing my fingers that my Bruno Walter will safely make it to me next week.
Hey Diva. I got it when the Amazon deal at £58.56, was flagged on this thread, and it arrived well packed and in perfect condition, but then i am in the UK, hope it arrives to you in Brazil as it came to me.
I usually wait around for discounts, close outs , etc, but with this Walter set I just pre-ordered from the most reliable( in my opinion) online seller and relaxed. The price was higher( even after two discounts which were applied during pre-order period) but c’est la vie!
The box is bigger than what would have been necessary to accommodate the discs. It could have been much much smaller in that regard-but the additional size of the box allows a much larger bound book to be included. The book is very well done and is a nice bonus feature.
Amazon just revised my delivery estimate of Jan/Feb they gave yesterday to December 17. That sounds like they have a firm expectation of receiving copies, rather than a vague possibility.
The release date of the Wilhelm Backhaus Complete Decca Recordings box has been put back again, this time to February 14, 2020. Delay upon delay... I wonder what's going on.
The problem with Black Fridays and Cyber Mondays is when you add Sony Tuesdays, Warner Wednesdays and Brilliant Thursdays. Then suddenly you stumble across DG and Decca weekends and it's all over. So after a few additions this is what the box set altar looks like - now also with the additions of related books and piano scores from the composers.
OH NO!......I only have 3 of those boxes, but I have over 15 other boxes............now I am really worried!
I wish I had that much space to store it all. Thanks for confirming the RCO, New Complete Beethoven and Carnegie hall sets are incredibly large. Now I know I really don't have room for them.
Same here, got a shipping notice from them. $144 after a members $15 coupon and 5% off with the Red card. The Titan Symphony on Festivus morning shall happen I will be comparing this to the Bruno Walter Edition rips I made and the early US/Japan first pressing CDs when I have a chance. Thank you for posting that Target had it.
Well, my Beethoven 2020 order from Amazon.it isn't going very well. Ordered back in September, after several delays it finally shipped via GEOD (whoever they are?) on 22nd November, made it swiftly from Dunfermline to 'Concord' by the 27th and promptly vanished. No updates since then, just a note saying it's delayed and if it hasn't arrived by the 15th to contact Amazon. I'd better brush up on my Italian...
Looks like you have about 30-35% space left, perhaps even more if you do double rows on some of the shelves. Lucky you to have so much space left! Nice organization!
Geodis is practically untrackable coming into the States and it’s relatively slow. European Amazons use them a lot for my orders. I’m not sure if Amazon owns them or just uses them. Things are always smoother when they use DHL.
