You are very Lucky. NOT ALL amazon stores do a complete refund like yours and some cant even offer more... And I have been supporting Amazon for years
Please dont take this personally nor am I directing anything at you. It is really Decca's fault . I emailed them too and no response
Its really a huge disappointment and frustrating to miss that recording! Is Decca even bothered?

I wonder why they don't answer e-mails about this, the more so since they did correct the error - I did get my replacement copy from JPC, who sold the box to me. Glad I didn't order it from Amazon; I understand for some reason they (Amazon) don't get replacements. Strange.

Ok, so I began listening to AQ set. I began with Haydn quartets (cd 8, 1960 stereo and 1955 mono). The performances are fabulous, I think.
The SQ from 1960 is very good, from 1955 is slighly worse but still ok for me. I must say, though, that I am no specialist in technical aspects and I cannot say anything on the remastering, etc.

I am very happy that I bought this set. It's fabulous in terms of presentation and performance. The sound quality is also very good.

I think that Amazon has far too many orders and objects for sale to bother with some CD replacements.
The situation is different with stores such as JPC, which specialise in classical music.

It comes down to preference. Hard to say (for me, at least) whether a particular (otherwise well-respected) ensemble is "not good" or "wrong" (David Hurwitz notwithstanding). All I know is what I like.

Not only Classical, they also sell Jazz and Popular music - that's what their name stands for, J(azz)P(opular)C(lassical).

Re AQ, obviously I'm writing about my preferences. It is impossible to produce "an objective opinion", because it does not exist.

Yes, I was surprised myself by Amazon, pleasantly of course, especially since I did not even ask for a refund.
I was hoping that there might be a chance they would have received replacements discs like the other vendors, that was the reason I contacted them.
I said it before but there it goes again:
Shame on you Decca for treating your customers like that!

Remember the $999 list price for the Complete Karajan on DG & Decca? It had 356 discs, $2.81 per disc. Plus the book, the leather (!) covered box with gold print and the library style storing of the discs on both sides. See the video below and wait until the end for the money shot.

This is a missed opportunity. The labels could include these figures in their mega box sets and then make them talk to each other with RFID tech - collect them all!

Today it's arrived the quartetto italiano, prima la musica warner box. First impressions are very positive. All material has been newly remastered and the quality of sound is really very good!
The sleeves are like jacket, also if very simple. The box is sturdy. I paid 29 euro in preorder on Amazon.it . An unmissable box for chamber music lovers!

Im debating the Ormandy box from JPC as it works out to about $245 shipped to USA. What information did you guys need to supply for the replacement disc?

$8.43 per CD, still cheaper compared to buying them individually. ;) But I agree, while in line with these $1000 people ask for 100 CD boxes, that's nuts.

My guess would be to tell her where you bought it and when, and if she asks for a proof, have the e-mail from the purchase or a receipt on hand?

Some of us are getting nervous if their package is en route for a month or so. They are beginners in the waiting game. ;)

Behold, I present you my personal record: after ordering the boxes below on February 23, 2020, I received them yesterday, June 12, 2021.

That's 475 days or almost 16 months later.

P.S.: They came from HMV Japan - oddly enough, I had zero issues with Amazon Japan.

I wonder if some people have a similar "dilemma" with the upcoming Helmut Walcha box set. It really looks nice (original jackets and all), but I already have both of the Bach cycles plus the organ masters disks (which have been part of one of the Archiv box sets). This reduces the box set to three new items:

    - The Well-Tempered Clavier (seemingly only ever issued on CD in Japan)
    - the two disks with Henryk Szeryng (issued separately in Japan and by Urania; it's also been in the Szeryng box set)
    - a 1927 single recording (new to CD, but issued by DG as download)

Unfortunately, the used price for the "Well-Tempered Clavier" alone is more than the entire new box set. Am I missing a re-issue of that?
