On the high-speed Amtrak, aka Accela? Regular Amtrak is not much faster than 60 mph, which is a joke.

No offense, but whatever you do, don’t let this one be your last LvB cycle.

A 1979 classical recording is old?
I guess you haven't been reading George's posts lately.

Thanks for the review. But now you have to review the newer Pinnock Bach-BC recording to complete the cycle. :righton:

    Kuddos to George!!

WOW I'm glad I asked about this one!
You couldn't have been more right.....this is amazing!!
This IS the best Chopin I have ever heard hands down.
This hasta top Rubinstein and many others I have heard over the years.
Moravec is so exact and yet deliberate in His playing that it's hard to believe that Chopin Himself coulda played it any better.
The quality of the recording is scary.....so clear that if you listen REAL close you can even hear the peddles being used on the piano.
45yr old original performance? (Old as me) Sounds like it was done yesterday!!

This 2 CD set is a essential addition to any collection....that's a fact!
If you don't have any or much Chopin.....you need this one. :righton:

Best $12.88 I spent on Classical in a while!!
    (Used Like New eBay purchase)

Man I love this Forum!! :edthumbs:

This is THE best recording of The Planets, by new millennium technology standards:

And I DO mean the sound quality of this Bishop/Parker EMI production, which is an analog quadro (from 1973 or so) mastered as 24 bit/96 kHz PCM, with no hints of no-noising (cheerz, George :nyah: ) and any other distracting trickery. Until I heard this DVD-A I used to consider the Dutoit the best sound-wise...

How nice to wake up this morning and begin my vacation by reading your happy post. I am so glad you like Moravec's Chopin.

So you know, his Ballades and his Preludes (heck, all his Chopin) is equally good. Here's a link to his Chopin over at amazon.

  13. Now playing my favorite version ...

    Great virtuosic performance, wasn't it?

I need to find time to play the twofer on my new universal player since I could only play the stereo layer until 2 weeks ago ...

You probably meant this one, which I bought last year. I really could not say the performance was better than the earlier recording with the English Concert, though the sound is better ...

Probably it's the most reliable assumption. If it was Shostakovich, it could also be a First May demonstration under LSD...

I often wonder why Moravec goes so unnoticed. His Beethoven Sonatas are by far my favorites, especially his Moonlight. He is proof that technical excellence and gratifying artistry are not mutually exclusive.

He and Yuja Wang are my two favs. Hands down  I know, bad pun:cool:
