a few years back i was finding cassettes 2-for-a-quarter & accumulated
maybe 4 grocery bags full.i bought a used Pioneer deck off Audiogon which
worked for about 3 weeks,so now i'm thinking of buying a new Sony deck.
i also have boxes of tapes recorded from LP,CD & radio broadcasts...

Not sure if you were talking earlier about the 2d Symphony or the PC, but if the former, this (putting performance over sound quality) is one of my favorite recordings of all time.

I see the pic is hard to read -- that's Kurt Sanderling on DG.

I had had my eyes on the Karajan Bruckner Symphonies for a long time but the prices, either the box set or the singles were quite steep. When I bought the following set, my problem was solved instantly and I also got the set at an excellent price ...

BTW, the set is now at $300 on Amazon? :help:

DG did not call this set limited edition for nothing. If you hang on to the set, it may be worth even more down the road ... :righton:

    **Chemical Treatment Alert**

Ok big question what is this stuff called Optrix CD Cleaner/Treatment I'm all the sudden hearing about?

    Anyone here use this stuff?
    Is it any good?
What exactly does it really do?
Is it safe for all Cd's?

continuing with lps cleaned on my new Spin Clean.this is very good recording
now considerably quieter than on its' first playing a couple of weeks ago.
there were some loud pops on side 1 & a place where the stylus hung up.
some pops are still there, but it played through with no trouble this time.

This LP cover is history itself, as Charles Mackerras only passed away a few months ago at 85. His first recording I bought was the Handel Messiah in the late 70's and in the intervening years, I bought many more of his recordings - both LP's and CD's ...

    Hi,
You might want to do a search in the Audio Hardware Corner to see if anyone has reported on its use. I think I mentioned it once. It isn't for me. It has been around for several years. That page from Galen Carol's website has been up for awhile. I have respect for Galen Carol, that is where I just bought my new turntable, however I didn't care for the Optrix on some of my CDs. I don't think it harms the CD and can be washed off. It is possible that it sometimes provided more detail, but CD treatments are controversial. I prefer Blue Maxx but it is more expensive and I rarely feel the need to use it. In any case saying that one can hear CD treatments can be risky. It is like saying certain cables are better over in the Audio Hardware forum. The trolls and threadcrappers will emerge.:sigh:

i've seen a cd reissue of this, which unfortunately doesn't use this great
    photo.i love DG lps,the whole package:the great cover photos,glossy
finish, the big yellow "plaque" (or whatever you call it) crowned with tulips.
just the best,as far as packaging.
