Yeah I'm not real excited about gambling with my music putting what equates to a wax/polish on em.
Maybe for a really scratched CD that you might toss anyway.
If it fixes it ....fine....if not....it was gonna go in the trash anyway.
I want nothing to do with scratched CD's and I take absolute care of the ones I get.
I was just curious! :D

I used the CD Repair Kit once and it appeared to work as the CDP skipping problem went away. No wax on any of my CD's - they are not shoes ...

I don't know what it is, but I wouldn't spend three minutes investigating it either. I used to be incredibly uptight about CD cleanliness, lack of scratches, etc. But CD's, at least on the side the laser looks at, are so much more resilient than many people think. Get a pair of silk boxers or something to wipe them off if you want to be careful. Or just wipe them on your jeans. Trust me, it works fine. The tiny little faint scratches that seem to appear on the disc after you wipe it off will NEVER affect playback -- in fact they won't even affect the disc's ability to be ripped bit-perfectly (which is a far higher standard than what my or, presumably, your ears can hear). If you have a bit of glue from a lousy packaging job, your wife's or gf's nail polish remover will in all likelihood do the job. (That one's worked for me too.)

Also, if you're ever worried about a scratch, just rip the disc -- there it is, your backup.

Now playing this CD, which I bought quite a number of years ago for a second listen ...

Nice music, given 2012 is less than a year away.

How do you like this CD, Jim?

I use Sam's Club Member's Mark Lens Cleaner and an untreated tissue. If it's good enough for composite plastic eyeglasses, it's good enough for discs. I really use it only on rental/library discs, as my personal CD/DVD collection is pristine.

I've always been anal retentive about the condition of my CD's.....same when I had records.
To me it ruins the value....God forbid I'd ever hafta sell em off....I want em like new for the next person.
I'm a collector and listener....it's what keeps the hobby alive...least for me.

My Grandfather did the same with Jazz/Big Band records....when He passed Gramma sold the whole deal to one Guy....around 1500 of em and they were all like new 40yrs later!

According to my computer record, I have 40 recordings by the Tallis Scholars, which include a number of twofers. As such, I have just about run out of their recordings to buy.

Do you use some software to track your music, Jim? I only use Excel.

I use the best program around....Music Collector Pro.
I've been using it for 2yrs now and I'm very pleased with it!!
Well worth the money and makes it a snap to keep track of your collection.
I add in the bar code manually but it can be done with a scanner.
I back it all up on a thumb drive....life is good. :righton:
