Today, Beethoven by Harnoncourt and Mahler by Tilson-Thomas. The Beethoven I'm enjoying, the Tilson-Thomas doesn't sound that much different from Bernstein.

 

George, Is Schubert Piano Sonata D960 your all-time Schubert's favorite?

1991 is the copyright date.

 

It's up there, though Richter's D894 has to take top honors. I am a big fan of the Impromptus as well, Pires has an incredible set (of Impromptus.)

 

Aren't they the best?

I think the D959 by Brendel, which I am listening to now, is pretty nice as well.

I think I have that in an earlier incarnation, with the gold cover.

 

I have the Toscanini's LvB set as well. I think the set by HvK with the Philharmonia Orchestra is excellent. It is a whole lot faster than the 1977 version with BPO. BTW, I am still not sold on Beethoven symphonies performed on period instruments ...

 

How about making LP out of MP4 files ...

I think so. I believe WarnerMusic bought out TELDEC some times ago and as such it now owns the entire TELDEC catalog ...
