Found around a dozen classical music LPs yesterday at one of the local Goodwill stores for $1.98 each. Most of them appear to have never been played. :righton:

My latest finds..Lute and chamber music LP which is lovely, BTW.

Let me say that the quality of Lute recordings vary quite a bit, and some do not have any warmth at all...its like being close miked in a tile bathroom. WHAT A SHAME!!!!!

The best Lute composition/performance I've ever heard coupled with amazing audio capture. Early digital done right.

After Holst and Stravinsky I changed to some slightly earlier and smoother tunes: "Music for the Spanish Kings" by Jordi Savall with Hesperion XX, Montserrat Figueras singing on several pieces.

This is totally unrelated to the finale of the European Championship in football tonight, btw. :D

Will it be Italy vs. Spain? Two bailout countries duking it out ...
I really have not been following the Euro Championship. It bummed me out to see the bailout national team defeated the banker national team.

Every year as we approach Independence Day I devote more listening and other time to works by Americans. Right now I am listening to a 1959 recording by Bernstein and the NYPO of Ned Rorem's Symphony No. 3. What a great piece this is! It's apparently been recorded commercially three times, though only a recent release by Naxos remains in print. I'm surprised it's not shown more staying power given its quality.
