Now one of my favourite releases from the last 5 years: J.S. Bach: Orchestral Suites for a Young Prince, BWV 1066-1069 - Monica Huggett/Ensemble Sonnerie - Avie

Just wait 'till Corelli whips out the kazoos. Not to mention Bach's excessive use of portamento.

So do you really enjoy this twofer? I cannot share my opinion until I have had a second listen. This twofer is buried somewhere in my JS Bach collection ...

Twofer? It's just 1 CD, not a 2CD-set if that is what you mean.

It must be nice to have a local dealer stocking classical cds.:righton:
But then, again, this is Vienna after all!

Actually I got really lucky today. Habitat for Humanity (local thrift store) received a very nice classical LP collection from the music department of our university.
I bought 100 classical LPs for $100 :goodie:

20 of them were with Jordi Savall/Hesperion XX on Astree and EMI Reflexe labels, and the rest were from Harmonia Mundi, BIS, etc. I
was looking for some of these on vinyl for many years, so I am really excited that I finally found them.

Did I mention that among the ones that I did not mention there were two LPs of Hopkinson Smith? :D

Nice, very nice. Mr. Levit certainly doesn't disappoint in this wonderful follow up to his amazing late Beethoven disc. He so clearly delineates the counterpoint and phrases so beautifully. Superb sound, too.

I received the following box last week from Amazon UK in one piece. I had wondered how beat up the package could have been but am glad it survived the transAltantic trip just fine given its unusual size.

The price has dropped to £60.81. It's 60 CDs. Works out to about $91.38 shipped to the US.
