Peter Martins choreographed a wonderful ballet to it.

Masterful playing and state of the art SACD sound. I hope this Russian audiophile label hasn't gone out of business as it's been quite a while since they issued a new recording.

Surprised you've never heard the Concierto de Aranjuez. I have four versions for guitar and orchestra. But the most famous version may be the Miles Davis/Gil Evans arrangement of the slow movement on Sketches of Spain (which you need to check out). I have two other jazz versions of that movement.

I have only 1 (classical) version, the one with Pepe and Angel Romero with Neville Marriner/Academy of St. Martin-in-the-Fields on Philips. I second the Miles Davis/Gil Evans recommendation.

My most recent two were a Romero Living Presence SACD and one included in an EMI box of 20th Century music. I have probably listened to John Williams more than any other (although now that I have the Julian Bream box via Spotify, I may check that out as well).
According to Wikipedia, Rodrigo didn't care for Miles' version. Until the royalty checks started rolling in.

On the back of the Isbin CD, Rodrigo is quoted as being "enchanted" with Isbin's "magnificent" recording of the Concierto de Aranjuez.

Was that during a séance? He died in 1999, and she recorded the Concerto in 2001! ;) (Perhaps there's an earlier one that I'm not familiar with.)

Now listening to "The Art Of Fugue" performed by Glenn Gould on Sony.

I think I prefer this being played on keyboard compared to the Juilliard set I just listened to.

Yes, I do have, on Dorian, Greensleeves / A Collection of English Lute Songs with Julianne Baird and Ronn McFarlane on lute. I had thought of playing that next.

I thought you meant you had an earlier recording! Hmm...it's listed as being released in 2001--must be a re-release.
