Those works were a recent discovery of mine via Spotify. I picked up the recording by John Holloway that Gramophone liked. (It was also dirt cheap.)

I preferred this to the AAM version that I played immediately afterwards. Not for the performance but for the sound quality. :)

  13. Daedalus

Daedalus I haven't heard it all.....

I have just received the new box set and am listening to the Copland disks to start off. I didn't get the first Lennie symphony box. I may look into that one as well. Too many great releases coming out these days-I have my eye on the Monteux Complete RCA as well.

I'm getting read for an Art Hop this Thursday. Tower District Records, corner of Palm and Olive, 302 E. Olive, Fresno CA. Painting this morning, playing the Well Tempered Clavier, Davitt Moroney on Harmonia Mundi 1901285.88, the 'musique d'abord' mid-priced reissue. My favorite harpsichord version, so far. Great for background brain candy while painting yantras. This is a Sri Yantra, rendered in pearlescent acrylic paint. I've been painting this particular pattern exclusively now for at least a year, I hope to have a big wall full of these 12" x 12" paintings as an instillation one day in the near future.

Do you have the Philharmonia Baroque recording on Harmonia Mundi? Audiophile stuff, Initially issued as an LP along with the CD with the cover directly below, the two other images are of the single disc reissue as a budget re-release, the image at the bottom from a multi-disc budget set that included five other discs:
