Playing this through some new to me Bozak 302A's being driven by McIntosh MC30's and a MX110Z. I don't think it can get much more seductive or thrilling.
Sunday morning early listening through headphones or (ahem) earspeakers as Stax likes to say. Wonderful performances.
Listened to this again with composers from turn of the century Paris. Edgar Moreau achieves some wonderful tones and finesse here. Edgar Moreau, cello David Kadouch, piano Sonatas by Strohl; Poulenc; Franck; & La Tombelle Erato, 2017
CecileOusset. 1990 recordings. Warner has issued a 16 CD set of her recordings recently. This CD is in the Masur box.
Up before the birds this morning. Listening to this 1954 release( issued a year after Mravinsky’s premiere performance in Leningrad):

I managed to track down a copy of this one after I read Hurwitz's rave and listened to a YouTube upload. The first Gilels I got was the DG Grieg LYRIC PIECES, so I'm already a fan of his playing. Does anyone here rate Simone Dinnerstein? I thought her Goldberg Variations was a revelation. Til then I’d only known Gould’s two renditions, and hearing Dinnerstein was like opening up a robot to find a human inside. I do still love Gould sometimes, but Dinnerstein opened Bach up, made his work emotional for me and not just analytical. Her more extended explorations of Bach had their moments, but that Goldberg record, whoo!
I am enjoying this. Ms Steber had a lovely voice. And Mitropoulos seems to be a sympathetic conductor with this performance. He allows the soprano to be the main focus.
For only $20, I just ordered this new, 2CD release, transfers are by the great Mark Obert-Thorn. An exciting release, as the pianist not only knew, but also studied with Faure, Debussy and Ravel. Ravel dedicated his G Major Concerto to her. Amazon link
Yes, I'm a big fan! I've been listening to her two most recent albums a lot. I don't know if this is still available, but when I ordered the CDs directly from her website she signed them. I saw her perform just before COVID, with the program that later became the album Undersong. Undersong: Works by Couperin, Schumann, Glass, & Satie. Simone Dinnerstein. Orange Mountain Richard Danielpour: An American Mosaic. Simone Dinnerstein. Orange Mountain
