now enjoying Bartok The 6 String Quartets Keller Quartet Apex, 2006 recorded for Erato 1995 2 discs from a concert note: The Hungarian Keller Quartet was formed in 1987 by four students at the Franz Liszt Music School in Hungary. In 1990, within a four-week period, the Quartet won two of the most important European string quartet competitions: the Evian International String Quartet Competition and the second Borciani International Competition.
This morning to start( I sought this out after enjoying a couple of his recordings of some of the more obscure(?) Dukas works he made for Erato on Lp.):

Once more with...better sound. My Apex reissue was deteriorating so I now have the 2020 reissue in the Vivaldi Box from I Solisti Veneti with Claudio Scimone. The sound is also subtly improved over the 2002 Apex. Vivaldi Oboe Concertos Pierre Pierlot I Solisti Veneti Claudio Scimone Erato, 2020 the original cover:
What's the consensus on the Jahrhundertring? (Boulez/Chéreau Ring cycle) I saw a copy of the DVD set on Wonder Book for a decent price.
My daughter showed me this, and I got a laugh. It's around 7 minutes. If you watch, be sure to follow along with the annotations in the score:
Although this thread certainly is not devoid of opera lovers, I'm guessing you might have more luck in "The All-Purpose Opera Thread" All-purpose Opera Thread (formerly your favourite opera? thread) * I wish I could be more help, but although I do love opera I'm not much of a Wagnerian.
While no opera buff either, I know it is highly regarded, in fact I read recently in another thread that Boulez' version (according to the writer) is the best of the filmed versions. However, there is a new Blu-ray version (both on its own and as part of the complete Boulez DG box) this improves on both picture and sound quality, but then again it would presumably cost much more than the DVD version you're considering.
I was pleased to run across this newly remastered set of the Haydn piano sonatas on youtube. It evidently first came out in the 1970's. Ilse von Openheim was Dorati's wife. Delving into the 10 hours of these recordings should keep me occupied for awhile.
Aha! That would explain why she recorded Dorati's Piano Cto. and Vars. on a Theme of Bartok for Vox Turnabout. I have the record, but if I've ever played it I don't remember anything about it. Her Haydn stas. were in VoxBoxes; I have one of those, too, and I definitely haven't played it, as my catalogue indicates it's still sealed.
Listening to this performance in my continuing attempt to come to an understanding/appreciation of this composer.
