Albert Brooks' rig in Modern Romance looks pretty nice. I can't find any shots of it. The sight of Brooks high on 'ludes scratching up his vinyls would probably send some people here into therapy.

I'd have to go back and look, but I''m pretty sure there was a nice set-up in "The Doors" where all of the guys are listening to "L.A. Woman". I'm thinking some vintage Magnepan speakers were used?

Oh, and a pretty cool reel to reel used in "Pulp Fiction".

I've been watching movies a lot recently, and it seems most new movies include a scene where someone is playing vinyl - the full propaganda machine is running at full tilt. Wanna be like the movies, you need Vinyl. :D

Andy Lau should've brought in his own SACD to do the audition....

I love the scene near the beginning of "American Hustle" where Christian Bale plays
Duke Ellington's "Jeep's Blues" to Amy Adams. Not much of a stereo though-- it looks like
    a cheap portable record player.

When I see threads like this, the first 'movie stereo' I think of is Randy Quaid's in the movie 'Foxes'... it winds up getting trashed when the girls throw a party at his place. I saw the film loads of times in the theater back when it was released (my parents owned a little shop in a strip mall that included a movie theater and I got to see tons of films there)... I picked it up on blu-ray but haven't watched it yet but I've always wanted to note what kind of system/components were used, but honestly I was more taken with the big KISS solo lp poster on the wall behind it.

How about a turntable turned James Bond torture device, for children's television?

I think there’s some Krell stuff in Love Potion Number Nine.

A VPI TNT in Indecent Proposal.

If I recall correctly, that is.

In Bosch, a series on Amazon Prime, Harry sports a vintage McIntosh/Marantz/Ohm Walsh system. Very cool! The speakers apparently don't require wiring!!

Well it’s not a stereo but, Dr. Forbin of the Colossus project obviously was an audiophile based on the caps he used in his creation.

In the film "The Italian Job" Seth Green's character says that he someday
wants to get the stereo gear that "blows the clothes off a woman" (or something
to that effect). At the end of the film, when they're all rich, he has a massive
stereo rig with huge speakers, but I can't find a picture.
Also, here's a link to a forum that had this exact same discussion back in 2007.

It ends up getting destroyed, in the movie, ..... kind of prophetic for the brand.

Nice thread. Went looking for it because saw The Mechanic last night for the first time and of course his gear setup is what I focused on, not the 100+ shootings. :)
Looking online it appears to be a Project RPM 9 turntable with possibly an Ortofon red cartridge? And speculation on the amp is a Jolinda.

Edit: oops didn’t even see your heading in the video clip

And if you look closely to the destruction there is what I believe is an orange faced target cd, maybe something like Cars Shake it Up.
