This thread is for some of those cool independent record store signs of yesteryear. Exterior shots of storefronts even if the sign is not that cool are also interesting
The photos don't have to be too vintage (note the web address on the sign) and the stores can still be around. Only maniacs can enter this store, which obviously does not hurt business (location unknown, if anyone knows, please post)
That's been in North Beach San Francisco for about 25 years. The basement record section is crazy, nothing really great, and lots of crap, but occasionally you find something. Used to be $4 per LP. His other store up on Grant Ave is nicer.
Other photos of this legendary Nashville store are welcome. This is obviously 1960's (8 track tape mention)
This Greenwich Village, NYC shop is still there, and the owner is just as cranky as ever. I would not be surprised if it becomes the very last record shop in NYC
I have had numerous fender benders when I drive by places like this. Usually, I get rear-ended and end up spending my insurance claim on vinyl rather than car repairs
Whenever you shop here, you have to inspect the vinyl very carefully for glop. Pumpkin is easier to clean off than apple (the sugar bonds to the grooves)
I hate it when I open the record and find out that it is square! I have been to garage sales where I ask if they have any records, and get back: "Do you mean the Round ones?" But I have a special fondness for square musicians
