The new owners have cleaned up the clutter significantly at Jerry's location on Murray Ave.. It seems a bit empty though without Jerry in there. Seeing him and speaking with him was always a highlight of each visit. In the top picture looking down Murray towards the clock, there is a world class guitar shop...Acoustic Music Works... right on the corner facing the clock and Murray...same side as Jerry's. Great selection of guitars, mandolins,banjos,ukes,etc.. Steve and Raymond are the guys to see.
Welcome to Shake It Records in Cincinnati, OH. This shop is located on a pretty cool little strip of shops and eateries. Another record store, Black Plastic, is just a short walk away. If you time it right, you may be able to catch the massive Northside Record Fair. It’s a decent store with two floors, used, and tons of new releases as well as t-shirts, books and vintage equipment. I liked it a lot better 3 or 4 years ago more than I like it today but I won’t get into why. A funny note, the store had a brief moment in the documentary Mistaken for Strangers. The music documentary centered around the highly acclaimed indie band The National who formed in Cincinnati. However, it is unique because it is recorded through the eyes (and cheap hand-held camera) of the less-than-famous brother of the lead singer Matt Berninger. The scene shows Matt and his brother both shopping at Shake It but the owners (also brothers) don’t even recognize him although there are a dozen records of the band in the bins. Mistaken for strangers as it were!
I think this Cambridge Mass store lost a lot when Alan sold it to new owners, but it is still a good shop
Not sure if this was posted yet, but very cool to see both sides of the store... Thompson's RCA Victor Records Eugene, Oregon circa 1950s
I bet it is visible now. This one was uploaded through Postimage.org — free image hosting / image upload tell me if it did not work
