    I love that title.

I saw, many years ago, at a Blockbuster Video, a bunch of cheap used cassettes, and I saw the title on this one video I'd never heard of, and I knew I had to get it. I didn't read the notes on the back of this clamshell cover thankfully as it gave away too much of the story. I wound up loving the movie, very much.

(and no, I didn't just look at my T titles in my Blu-rays; not sure there is one of A Thousand Clowns)
The Red Balloon (if that's a movie or if too short to be considered one) I like that title.
    The Night Of The Hunter

some others I like the names of; forget if I like the movie A Thousand Clowns....

Not so great. A Cold War thriller as I recall based on an Alistair MacLean novel of the same name. Typical for its genre. I saw it when it came out and I was maybe 13 so I'm sure I missed whatever subtext there may have been written into it. Hard to imagine knowing the writer's approach. But maybe your friend is alluding to the divisive confrontational nature of contemporary politics?
