I have an Alesis Masterlink, and I was wondering if anyone else with one has tried to made a copy of one of these CDs using it? What I want to know is, sure, the music plays and copies OK, but does it copy the malware BS too? It would be nice for us to find out if this is an expedient way (for now) to make 'safe' dubs of these problem discs.

If this is Masterlink is an audio-only deck, it does not know how to copy the "software" portion of the disc, only the audio portion. I have a Sony dual-well deck that I could also make a copy through if I wanted to. Same situation--it is only capable of copying the audio portion.

    Go for it!

Good....this should be good news to people who wish to MP3 or iPod (or whatever they like to do with music CDs and home computers) their albums.
