Yes to so many of these.

Love Grace Jones. her take on “La Vie En Rose” is great, as well. Hell, I prefer her version of "Demolition Man," too. or, is hers really the original? :shh:

I would add both Wall of Voodoo and Social Distortion's versions of "Ring of Fire," both better than the original, for me.

Soft Cell's cover of "Tainted Love" is so good, I think of it as their song.

On the cute side, Cyndi Lauper's "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" is a cover! But it's hers.

I won't list all the "covers" Zep passed off as originals.

Sprinkle in Bow Wow Wow's "I Want Candy" and Flying Lizards unbeatable cover of "Money," and the cover party's getting started.

Rolling Stones, oh, man. I think their take of "Love In Vain" is the best. Same with their live recordings of "Not fade Away," pretty spectacular. Then there's "Just My 'Magination," better than the original, to me. To finish the Stones part..."Cherry Oh baby" is unspeakably great.

Not better than the original, but a great cover: "Wild Horses" by The Sundays deserves mention.

Talking Heads' version of "Take Me To The River" is tops, for me.

If anyone is old enough the recall the "FM" album: Linda Ronstadt's version of "Poor Poor Pitiful Me" is killer....perhaps as good as Warren Zevon's, not to commit sacrilege. (Her "Tumblin' Dice" cover is the best cover of that song.)

Then, we arrive at Robert Palmer...I will just say all his covers are bits of perfection.

    I better shut up now!

This might be the first time I've heard "kick ass" in relation to the Beach Boys. Gently rubbing the bum with cream to make it shine, for sure.

I also like the version of "Where Did You Sleep Last Night?" from that Unplugged performance, and I think their renditions of the Meat Puppets tracks outdo the originals as well.

We need somebody to meld Bobby Troupe's "Route 66" (first charted with Nat King Cole), with Nelson Riddle's instrumental tv show "Theme from 'Route 66'". Nobody's ever incorporated the two idioms before, I think it's a no-brainer.

Some people may prefer The Easybeats original but it's hard not to like this INXS / Jimmy Barnes mashup of Good Times:

Thought of it when someone mentioned Hindu Love Gods as they also did a similar cover to The Easybeats on 45.

Travis - "Hit Me Baby One More Time (Live)" Makes you realize there's an actual song beneath all of Britney's production.

"Time of the Preacher": I was thinking of adding Carla Bozulich's version of this Willie Nelson classic but Johnny Cash outdid them both with the help of Sean Kinney, Kim Thayil & Krist Novoselic:

Fantastic cover! I hear the production on this as close what Lennon wanted but wasn't able to achieve in the state that he was in during late '68 and early '69.
