I just heard a cover of Crowded House’s Don’t Dream It’s Over and I just could not fathom why anyone would release such a bland version of the original song. I could find nothing unique or compelling about the cover. Nothing. The original was perfect. This cover: homogenized, uninspired, blah. Can’t even be bothered to look up who the artist was. Ugh.

No need for anyone to cover "Born To Be Wild".
Impossible for the original to be improved upon.

Pat Boone's interpretation of "Smoke on the Water." It's Ian Gillan's story to tell, buddy! :p

Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door by Guns N Roses. The horror, the horror.

George Harrison said of it “There’s only three chords in it, and they managed to get one of them wrong.”

If someone tries to remake "They're Coming To Take Me Away, Ha-Haaa!" there's going to be trouble.

I never cared for Peter Frampton's cover of Jumpin' Jack Flash. It isn't horrible but it doesn't add anything to this already fine song. Frampton was writing so many fine songs at that time so this cover was unnecessary.

A few months after it was released Bob Dylan asked Slash to appear on his Under the Red Sky album. So perhaps Bob liked the cover.

I believe the Under the Red Sky cameos were arranged by Don Was. I wouldn't be surprised if Bob didn't know who Slash was.

You might be right. Although in Slash's autobiography he says Bob Dylan didn't like his guitar parts and said they sounded too much like Guns N' Roses. So Bob must have been aware of who Slash was and Guns N' Roses' music to make a comment like that.

I agree. However, I do really like Johnny Winters raucous version of the song.

I actually like their cover. Then again I heard it first (then again I heard Knockin by them first and yeah, that one is bad) and I don’t add ass kiss everything Paul McCartney puts his name on.
