Two of the more solemn Beatle songs were both well-covered in their day and in perpetuity and having just discovered two of the Lennon-penned classic and trusting that fellow forum-ites will post their favorite covers as well, I thought this might make for a worthy thread of both discovery and sonic bliss. Also not opposed to the posting of the originals at some point and any undiscovered gems that may be considered as oddballs. I was once scoffed at on these very hallowed pages for equating these two songs in terms of relative gravitas, but I stand uncontrite in that opine. I'll start the ball rolling with this surprisingly effective rendition.; to quote myself from another thread: Just stumbled across this and it was very far from the lightweight mess one might have expected from an albeit otherwise delicious flavor-of-the-month like Susan Anton:
There is truly dreadful version of In My Life being used on a TV commercial now. The female singer isn’t even close to the phrasing of the line “ all these places had their moments”. It sounds like she is reading the lyrics.
Stephen Stills seems to really like "In My Life" as he recorded a solo version on his "Stills Alone" album, and then did it again with CSN on their "After The Storm" album.
A sublime version from an unexpected source, TV show Family Ties. For those unaware it's about a hippy couple from the 60's raising a family in the 80's. Quite poignant
