In my humble opinion, when it comes to covers it doesn't get much better than this:

Of course, my precious The Residents have make a BUNCH of 'off-the-wall' covers!
Here's their cover of "We're A Happy Family" that, for some unknown reason, gets 'mashed' with "Bali Hai"!

  5. Mark Kozelek's acoustic folk-blues interpretations of Bon Scott-era AC/DC on the What's Next To The Moon album are pretty inventive, and make for a great listen during late nights and hazy summer days.

I prefer this unique and great version of New Order covering a reggae song of Keith Hudson. They performed this once for a BBC session (june 1982) for the love of their former pal, late Ian Curtis (who loved reggae much).

Actually I was going to add both Holland EP's to the Best 25 sounding CD thread, both are fantastic!

I just heard about this 1965 Solomon Burke cover of Bob Dylan's "Maggie's Farm" yesterday in Rolling Stone magazine's 2010 obituary article on Solomon. I checked it out today and I'm surprised it's not better known, a straight ahead soul romp that works very well.

Manapua, got another version of your offering above, from the inestimable Amy. She may have been a few sheets to the wind at the time, but not to be denied:

Anybody remember Mitch Ryder's cover of What Now My Love, from 1969?

I think he's been listening to some Richard Harris a bit.

I've come to favour the Sonny and Cher version but this one is interesting to say the least.
