Creedence Clearwater Revival Have Resolved Long-Standing Issues

According to ultimateclassicrock.com Creedence Clearwater Revisited will retire at the end of their current tour. The Creedence Clearwater REVIVAL members have apparently moved past their differences forming a joint venture to market Revival. The first project is the long awaited release of their Woodstock performance.

Hmmm... Really don’t know what to think of this. I still can’t imagine them doing any kind of music together at all.

If you read the full interview with Cook at Billboard.com, you'll see that there is not much new there. They are retiring the Revisited band because they are getting old and are tired of being on the road. This has no connection to their relationship with Fogerty. They have not even talked to Fogerty for years... Cook says he has tried but has been rebuffed. "Moved past their differences" means only that they have apparently resolved their mutual lawsuits against each other from a couple years back, nothing more. There is no indication of any chance they might ever perform with Fogerty again.

 

Well, we have been warned for seven series that "Winter Is Coming!".....

 

I'm confused. Is this a good or bad thing? I thought they broke up decades ago...

From the Billboard article:
“The three CCRevival veterans settled their various disputes a few years ago and now jointly operate an LLC "to market the brand and, if you will, exploit our good will," with plans for merchandising and other endeavors -- among them a possible video release of CCR's performance at the original Woodstock Music & Art Fair, which was not included in the 1970 documentary from the festival.”

And from ABC News (CCR drummer Doug Clifford says band's full Woodstock performance is expected to be released in 2019 - Music News - ABC News Radio ) back in January:
“We fought for 50 years over [releasing the performance], and now it looks like it's finally…gonna be out there," Clifford tells ABC Radio. "So, I'm excited about that, and hopefully the fans will be excited about it as well."

Doug didn't specify whether both audio and video of CCR's Woodstock set would be released.”

 

Not having heard the Woodstock tapes, is there anything ground breaking there? As far as I’ve heard of CCR live, the songs are presented in a pretty straightforward manner.

 

Easy folks. There is absolutely zero chance that any of this means a true reconciliation with Fogerty or that they will ever play together again. Sadly, it will never happen. Ever.

 

I hope you’re wrong. I would pay top dollar to see them play together.
