I love CCR too. As far as the great American bands, I have them only one tiny notch below Los Lobos and the Byrds, and as far as the high points go, no one tops CCR's run of classic singles.

Picked up a nice 2-Cd import at Best Buy called Platinum. Contains 40 tracks not in chronological order, if you like mixing things up. Interesting track order, but it features the new remastering. Only two songs seem strangely MIA (Hello Marylou and Bootleg) and a couple that seem strangely not MIA (The Working Man and Feeling Blue). Below is the tracklisting and below that the link with the picture of what it looks like...

whoa! Includes "Ramble Tamble" and "I Put A Spell On You" and the complete version of "I Heard It Through The Grapevine" and "Susie Q" remastered? Gonna grab this one... thanks! CCR's "Midnight Special" will always remind me of the movie "Twilight Zone" :righton:

They're no Byrds or Airplane, but some of the deeper album cuts (Effigy, Porterville, etc...) are tremendous. They certainly rank up there.

Every Band I was in back in the day always did "It Came Out Of The Sky" as a sound check...even my Jazz quartet!!!!!!

They are up there, that's for sure! And I want to publicly thank Mr. Steve Hoffman for re-introducing me to CCR. I picked up a cut-out of Pendulum and was blown away. I hadn't listened to them since I was a kid. Now I've got 'em all! :)

In addition to "Let's Work Together," those who remember the most commercially successful version of "Kansas City" also remember Wilbert.

I've seen John 3 times over the past 8 years, the CCR songs in the set list didn't vary that much over those shows. I haven't seen the recent tour but he is playing a few CCR songs he hasn't played before on tour:
    Tombstone Shadow
    Bootleg
    Cottonfields
Night Time is the Right Time
    Ooby Dooby

Granted most of these are covers but still new songs to the setlist from the CCR cannon.

Yep I was 14 and they played at Mather AFB in California at Teen Town.Place where kids could hang out on the Base.Stood next to John Fogarty and watched him play.Never forgot what they were dressed like, pasliy shirts, thick corduroy pants, granny glasses(the kind the Byrds wore)and those furry like hats that the Byrds wore also.Played the standard covers of the day.Who knew that 6 months later they would change the sound of Rock forever.

I recently purchased a couple of the 45s Steve did. WOW! The 45s sound amazing! I also have the 33rpms but the 45s kill.

An outstanding band and the unforgettable voice of John Fogerty. Best American band ever? That's open for debate but in my opinion CCR would rank highly. :righton:

I would certainly rank them very close to the top. My uncle had a couple of their albums, so I was fortunate enough to hear them when I was only three or four years old.

My mom and I lived with my grandmother briefly after my dad decided that a blonde in a yellow Camaro was more important than mom and me. My uncle was still living at home, so I got to hear his CCR lps!! I don't remember any other artists that he had, but I clearly remember hearing CCR.

Lodi is still one of my all time favorite songs. It has a kind of sadness to it that reminds me of that time of my life.

Quality of releases per amount of releases over the short period of time they did it.....one of the greatest bands of all time.

The original Fantasy 45's also sound great. Fantasy's original 45's of Fortunate Son and Green River are still my favorite way of listening to those songs (don't have any Steve 45's, just his SACD hybrids).

As for the album tracks, agree with previous posters on It Came Out of the Sky and Don't Look Now as two of the best.
