yes it is, and knowing what you know after reading through this massive thread, imagine what it could have been!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and for a whole lot less money.......
I can't abide record companies adding vinyl to CD boxes just to jack up the price. I bought the Qobuz download instead. For about a third of the price I can live without a physical unit. I'm going to get a haircut today in memory of David Crosby.
I just watched the DVD from CSN 1974 and thought it’d be nice to see either more footage from that tour or the complete Wembley show.
A friend sent me a random DVD with a package of shows he recorded. The DVD was simply labeled 1974, complete. Much to my surprise it was audio for the complete tour, never did get around to thanking him for that little bonus. Think I’ve got some catching up to do….
Looking at this Amazon.com Is that the "correct" current remaster? And how does it stack up against other pressings? (Sorry, 223 pages of replies is too much to sift through...)
OK, I did find this, looked for 1st reply after 5/14/21. That sounds good to me . I just want to know for sure I am getting the same release from that Amazon link. Thanks again
…so many different versions of albums these days; we have to double and triple check we’re ordering the right thing.
I picked up the Chris Bellman cut and I think it sounds really excellent. Apparently, the Classic is slightly softer and warmer sounding…but I’m not sure I would want that as this sounds quite warm in itself.
Revisited the LP box tonight, been awhile. Coming off the back of an afternoon/evening sesh that included some Neil (Toscaloosca, After the Gold Rush) and Nash (Wild Tales) and Crosby & Nash (Graham Nash/David Crosby). A couple of hot ones were puffed and a sweet red was imbibed - about the best accompaniment for this type of music: very minor quibbles aside (i.e. I'd love to know precisely who is playing on what via some sort of credits sheet), the set is ****ing fantastic. This box really did open my eyes to what a talent Stephen Stills was in '69. There's a lot to like from all involved here, but the set really is a testament to Stills' dawn-of-the-70's greatness. Proper blue-eyed soul. Respect.
And - I forgot the cardboard mailer it was shipped in also included bespoke Déjà Vu typography, lol. So ostentatious, so right. ****ing love it.
The demo take of Graham Nash and Joni harmonizing on "Our House" on the 50th Anniversary edition of Deja Vu and her laughing as he hits a wrong chord on the piano is so sweet and special.
I'm also, as someone who has a sometimes contentious relationship with a parent, always touched by "Teach Your Children".
as it should have been the first time. lots and lots of unplayed 'deja vu' vinyl sitting in boxes on shelves out there for sure. a totally ****ed up project from start to finish.....a real and true example of a money grab and fan fleece.
Definitely greed. Companies correctly realize that they can charge a whole lot more if they stick a vinyl in the box. It’s great for vinyl fans— they arguably get “free” CD’s with their purchase. Those of us who buy only CDs get ripped off— or not— as I actually believe most- like me- avoided buying it
