Apologies if this has been asked already, but is there any chance of a surround mix? Deja Vu was listed for DVD-A release almost 20 years ago. I've always wondered if a 5.1 mix was prepared back then and got shelved. Graham Nash seemed to be pro-5.1 at the time and managed to get two of his solo albums out on DVD-A. (OT, but I can't thank you enough for the fantastic Doobies set )
Everyone who doesn't play vinyl, just buy the box, enjoy the CDs and book and give the LP to a vinyl-loving friend or loved-one as a Christmas gift*. Problem solved. *Or sell it second market where it'll surely fetch a fair chunk of change.
Some labels, if you can call them that anymore, have moved away from surround audio. The Tom Petty Wildflowers Box is a recent example. I for another would be very interested in Deja Vu in surround.
I guess I'm not bothered if the box has a record ... but I see no posts telling us what is on these four discs. I get the feeling that it isn't going to have a surround album, and essentially that would be my only interest. I rarely listen to outtakes and demos. To me I understand why record companies are setting boxes up the way they are.... fill it with formats, and stuff folks may want, but will essentially look at once. Make it look fancy, and slap a big price tag on it, because it's "exclusive"... But it's getting expensive and a little boring. The record companies and artists have seen others selling these big boxes, with little of particular value for big bucks, before the whole physical market pops the goose.... I can pick up an excellent copy of the cd or record for a good price, just about anywhere, but I can't get a surround version of the album.... it's illogical to me Sorry for the rant. Excellent album
It seems Target deleted the box from its website... So, either it's happening soon or it's not happening at all?!
Do we know that the delay was specifically related to COVID-19? It’s very possible but there are other plausible reasons a project such as this could be delayed.
Mr. Woole, you are reported to have the most insight to this release, any info on whether the release is this year or next? Thanks!
The concern I have with all of these releases being pushed to 2021 is that between now and then they could get dropped completely. If I were a gambler I wouldn't give any of these that are delayed to 2021 better than 50/50 odds of happening.
