Different mix of Wings' Girls School, from an acetate, just turned up. It's fascinating, but no-so-great.
How about you try not threadcrapping in this thread and leaving it alone so that we can talk about what the O.P set this thread up to discuss? As Steve has said repeatedly, there will never be a 'Beatles' only Hoffman section, so if you don't like these threads, be an adult and ignore them. Now, let us get back on topic.
It is pretty funny complaining about all the Beatles/Paul McCartney threads, and then not being able to stay OUT of those threads.
Can we post videos that may be of interest? I've never seen this before - Paul promoting the world premiere of the Take It Away video on MTV.
I heard that acetate. It was interesting, but I much prefer the released version of "Girls School". One thing I disliked in the acetate version was the way the music always stopped before the ".... Girls School" line.
I have to say, the Beatles were almost always correct in deciding which mix or version of a song to release, but I prefer many of Paul's less produced/arranged working versions of songs. I agree with you though. I don't think "Girls School" is one of those. I prefer the song as officially released.
I like the added guitar solos in that alternate mix, it would be much better also if it was recorded with more punch.
What am I chopped liver! I guess I'm not worthy of contributing here! I'm of a mind to boycott this thread and not enhance it with my presence! McCartney thread, smafartney thread is all I have to say!
We should start our on McCartney thread. Because this forum doesn't have enough McCartney threads already!
We'll show them we'll start our own forum with just the two of us and spend all of the posts crapping on elitists like @Arnold Grove, @5th-beatle, @theMess, @Sean Murdock. @Glenn Christense, @daveidmarx, @etcetera,and so forth! I hate that "so forth" guy!
I actually like the acetate version of Girls School, possibly better than the released version. I'll have to listen to it again. Any way, what are the odds that this is surfacing because MPL is working on the London Town Archive?
I think the problem might have occurred a couple months ago when you mentioned in one of the various McCartney threads that your very favorite Paul McCartney song is "Bridge Over Troubled Water", and you keep hoping he will get together with Art again. You MAY have lost a little credibility here . Maybe.
That is a lie! It was "Mrs. Robinson!" She left her face in a jar by the door and Dustin Hoffman found it. He was returning Mrs . Robinson's face to Paul when he suggested that Paul write a song about Vincent van Gogh's first words "goo goo goo gaa gaa gaa". Fellow Britt Sting was eavesdropping and misheard the famous words and of course the rest is history!
