I came across this in an issue of The Write Thing fanzine, and thought you all might find it interesting. Hope it hasn't been posted yet.
Thanks! Interesting that one of Paul's major motivations for buying the Buddy Holly catalogue was because Allan Klein wanted it!
Guys, please give me a hand: When Paul says in the interview that John is "full of wind", what does it mean? I had never heard that expression before.
It's like saying 'he's talking crap', or 'just running his mouth off' with no real substance to his comment.
Be glad you asked that question here. Over on the McIII thread, you'd be met with a slew of Lavatory Lil jokes.
New sign marks Paul McCartney's brief stop on Route 66 in Oklahoma - Route 66 News "Oklahoma County and several residents of a stretch of original Route 66 on Monday installed a sign that commemorated a brief stop by a former Beatle, Paul McCartney, there in 2008."
Brief stop at the side of the road? I guess when you gotta go you gotta go. “Oklahoma was never like this...”
Wow. That almost seems like a parody. Terribly designed sign too. As a 40-year Macca fan, I think I can safely say not event moment needs to be commemorated.
Wandering off at a slight tangent, but I see nowhere else to post this: the re-release of We All Stand Together is wonderful, really well presented. So much better than the original picture disc, which came in a clear pvc cover.
Paul McCartney - Coming Up (Official Music Video) "Premieres Nov 20, 2020 The music video for “Coming Up” from the McCartney II album was directed by Keith McMillan and released in 1980. It has been newly remastered in HD. “Coming Up” was the first single released off the McCartney II album. The video features Paul McCartney playing a number different roles, alongside Linda McCartney who plays the backing signers in the video."
I just looked that up, I didn't realise they did that so recently. It looks like it was taped on video, and there's a lot of effects that they would have to do redo, so they probably can't remaster it much more.
Coming Up in HD? Well the matte lines in the original were pretty bad so I’m not sure. Plus I have a feeling these weren’t optical printer shots. So the “HD” is probably gonna be a upscale with added digital sharpening of the SD video master. I hope I’m wrong.
I thought maybe it was something he said on the interview disc from Chaos but no. In fact, the only thing I could find was a quote from @Yorick
I had never seen this, so maybe you haven’t either . It’s always interesting to me watching Paul work, and if there was ever any doubt that he can make music with any instrument....
Paul McCartney on Twitter: "HOLIDAYS. It only comes this time of year Multiple musical notes Count down to the festive season and to #McCartneyIII with the 'Holidays' EP. Stream now: https://PaulMcCartney.lnk.to/holidaysTP" https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=202500604813707
Furthermore these Electric Argument songs were quickly assembled and for the most part made up on the spot. So basically he instinctively knew how to map these songs out with all these crazy instruments and knew how it would all gel together. Now THAT is genius. I envision McIII being in this same vein on some level. I'm excited.
"Hosanna" and "Lady Madonna" through me for a bit of a loop. Why not cross-promote the new picture disc by putting "We All Stand Together" there, and why not use this as an excuse to finally add "Once Upon a Long Ago" to streaming services?
