Yes, to have the vision of how he’s going to layer his things is amazing. Plus the variety of his musical styles is all over the map so his arranging skills are as strong as his writing and playing skills. (And yes, I’m aware he has used other arrangers also ) It’s not like he’s in AC/DC basically using the same template to create a spin on basically the same song, as great as they are at what they do .
I just played the new hi-res remaster, and Humming Version, about an hour ago, both sounding great, especially the Humming version, which was the biggest step up from what I already had (a needledrop of unknown origin)
Maybe next Paul can do an Ode To A Koala Bear single and feature the Australian version. That's another song I'd love to have an upgrade for.
What do you all think of these new EP compilations Paul and the Beatles seem to be doing? I think that thematically themed compilations are a neat idea but they aren't often choosing the right songs.
They are of little consequence to me but I imagine they are intended for new/casual listeners with the hope of mixing in more familiar titles with some deeper cuts. Anyone who is getting into the Beatles via streaming is only going to be fed certain songs by the algorithms in place, not unlike how people listening to the radio would only hear the more popular songs. I imagine this helps promote other material.
When Paul McCartney got stoned with Bob Dylan he discovered "the meaning of life" "“Mal gave me the piece of paper the next day,” Macca remembers, “And on it was written ‘There are seven levels.’ “Well, there you go, the meaning of life…”"

Sorry if this has been posted. Paul has been nominated for a Grammy for Flaming Pie: Best Boxed Set or Special Limited Edition Package
While the floating around “audience recording” does give you a handle of how the song goes and of course hearing Paul’s voice. I’d offer to wait until you hear it in better sound the way intended.
Thanks for the advice. I only want to hear a decent quality version when I hear it for the first time.
Let's look at the competition: Best Boxed Or Special Limited Edition Package FLAMING PIE (COLLECTOR'S EDITION) Linn Wie Andersen, Simon Earith, Paul McCartney & James Musgrave, art directors (Paul McCartney) GIANTS STADIUM 1987, 1989, 1991 Lisa Glines & Doran Tyson, art directors (Grateful Dead) MODE Jeff Schulz, art director (Depeche Mode) ODE TO JOY Lawrence Azerrad & Jeff Tweedy, art directors (Wilco) THE STORY OF GHOSTLY INTERNATIONAL Michael Cina & Molly Smith, art directors (Various Artists) For those who own or have seen some of these sets: Is Flaming Pie superior to all the competition, or is one of the other sets more likely to win?
I never thought I'd say that one day but... Paul is on TikTok https://twitter.com/viviisg0ne/status/1331471129517699073
https://www.bbc.com/mediacentre/2020/idris-meets-paul "Paul McCartney’s stunning 2018 Cavern Club performance to be broadcast on BBC One." "BBC One will broadcast this very special performance in December, with viewers being able to enjoy blistering performances of songs including I Saw Her Standing There, Lady Madonna, Band On The Run and Come On To Me."
My favorite version of Wonderful Christmas Time by Macca is a live one from Saturday Night Live , posted below. It comes after the comedy bit with Martin Short. The song features his current band and a children’s choir. Enjoy!
Yes Ray, I noticed the same thing immediately. And, watching this was so odd and out of character for me: Out of nowhere I started to tear up watching this, realizing what a positive effect Paul and his music have had on my life.. all my life. And at some point he’s going to go away. So much of his music is joyful and good hearted, and I guess I take that for granted .
I know exactly what you mean. I used to experience some of his music and parts of his concerts with cynicism, and about 10-12 years ago I let all that go and just try to experience the joy, because we won’t have it forever.
