Seriously: Can someone explain why anyone would purchase an NFT of a black cape worn by John? Except if you had the ability to wear the cape, or touch it, or display it at say a museum or even in your house, a black cape would have zero value otherwise. Why would someone want the ownership of a digital cape?? Sounds like a scheme similar to the Emperor's new clothes.
Here is an image of John's cape: Please, potential buyers, calm yourselves! I can make plenty of copies of this picture for you all to buy.
My guess is NFTs are similar to owning a numbered poster of a Van Gogh painting. And sadly, good or bad, fantasy seems to sell nowadays.
But even in that case, you do actually get a physical numbered poster of a painting to display. So even though it is not the original valuable painting, it is a tangible thing, which has some value. Or if they sold the digital copyright of a Van Gogh painting as an NFT, then you could reap the profits of selling reproduction rights to that painting for use in books or websites or whatever. BUT again: Why would anyone want ownership of a digital cape?
So agreed. Must be a sign of the times when folks text each other when the actual person is just six feet away. For example, restaurants will often prioritize a phone order regardless that other customers were there first standing right in front of them! I could phone my order while standing in line but that just adds to the problem. With everything going on we’ve become desensitized, isolated, & phobic, so alas digital has become “safer.” Of course, my solution would be to add a computer virus to every NFT purchase, but that’s just meme.
I wish to put up for sale the right to look at my avatar. The bidding starts at $1000. It costs you $2000 to click ignore on me to get around it!
I ran across an interview from the Tug of War era. I found his comments on Denny Laine interesting. Paul McCartney about the breakup of Wings, Costello, the Beatles - Videomuzic
Part 2 of the interview. Interesting he talks about Elvis C. years before they collaborated. Paul McCartney about the breakup of Wings, Costello, the Beatles pt 2 - Videomuzic
Kind of what I was thinking. Some of the questions from that interviewer were quite pointed, but it made for a much better read, even forty years after the fact! Thanks to @JDeanB for sharing. That’s exactly the type of post I envisioned when I created this thread years ago.
My favorite quote from the interview: “Then after this album [Tug Of War], I’m trying to put a film together. Isn’t everyone? But mine’s different. Mine is better." I don't even have to apply any sarcastic indicators when I say this either.
Another Beatle Son "news" with a tacky Daily Mail caption: A hard day's shopping: James McCartney braves the cold in sandals yesterday while out shopping in London. Nobody recognised the famous Beatle's son as he sported a new beard If there's a new biopic in the making, sign James up.
That is definitely NOT a new beard. Kind of freaky how he looks like mountain man Paul or worse, homeless Paul. Not too far from this Paul though.
Probably the same reason I took this picture 15 years ago in North Carolina. . . because is LOOKS a lot like someone famous and it's a crazy photo.
This seems to have been a long stretch with no news at all from the McCartney camp; which usually seems to be followed by a big announcement of some kind. Fingers crossed
