D should be careful, giving this record a title like 'Black Messiah'. Folks are going end up being disappointed with anything that falls short of, well, the actual second coming of Christ.

Mind you, if those awesome clips of Pino laying it down are anything to go by, this record might just be that good!

I just listened to Voodoo for the first time maybe a couple of years ago... What a great album. I was embarrassed that it took me so long to "discover" it for myself. A classic for sure. I'm definitely going to pick this one up.

"The long wait for new D'Angelo music is finally over.

Red Bull has announced that it will premiere the studio version of D'Angelo’s song “Sugar Daddy,” which the singer debuted live in early 2012.

Is D'Angelo Finally Releasing a new Album? Singer Announces Listening Session for 'Black Messiah'

“Sugar Daddy” will be available as a free download to the first 1,000 fans who visit redbull.com/20before15 on Sunday (Dec. 14) at 12 a.m. PT. After those downloads have been claimed, the track will be available for streaming only.

The song arrives on the same day that D'Angelo is scheduled to host a New York City listening session of his long-awaited full-length album, Black Messiah.

The listening event will be hosted by the famous writer Nelson George, who also interviewed D'Angelo in an event earlier this year at the Brooklyn Museum. In conjunction with this announcement, an album teaser hit the internet. Watch it below."

Incredible news. This is just one of those things that I assumed would never come to pass, but hey, I said the same thing about Kevin Shields and My Bloody Valentine...:D

I got one. Song is maybe a little too Prince for me, but I do like it. Musicianship is fantastic.

It will probably make better sense within the context of the album.

If that's the first single, this is picking up where Voodoo left off though with a less drum forward mix. Sounds like he's not trying in the least to have a hit. Love it!
