I see one on discogs, the merchant said matrix number is 28A6 (no TO). Is this from the first run of pressings from 1983, or (more likely) second press from 1984? Seems both use the same mastering and were manufactured by Sony, per the excellent Floyd discographical website (don’t have the URL handy, but it’s been linked frequently in these forums).

This matrix number stuff is making my head spin. Any help is greatly appreciated!

OK, I think I figured this out after carefully reviewing the pinkfloydarchives page:

Pink Floyd Archives-Japanese Pink Floyd CD Discography

Looks like it is a later first Sony pressing. The merchant neglected to mention that the matrix includes the CDP info on the bottom as well, thus my confusion.

Why the hell can't these companies just re-issue these exact masterings already? Clearly they are still in high demand with the audiophile community. Instead, we get compressed remaster after compressed remaster, or are left to scrounge the second-hand listings/used bins in hope of finding a gem.
