I was revisiting The Who's It's Hard recently and was amused by the arcade video game as the focal point of the cover. I would estimate that the theme of this album cover was looking pretty dated within 3 years of it's release. What other albums covers have dated so poorly?

From Pinball Wizard to Pacman Maverick... I think for an early eighties cover it is looking quite good. Not what I would call dated. The cover is certainly better than the album... ;)

Seriously---any Dylan album of the '80's --except Infidels and Oh Mercy.

This one was probably D.O.A. (Dated On Arrival), as fashions changed so rapidly in the 60s, I will bet this was stale before the year was out:

By the early 80s, the Village People were desperately trying to stay relevant. On the cover of their 1981 album Renaissance they seem to have tried to link up with the synth-pop crowd, but it looks more like a parody, which perhaps it was? In any case, that style went out of fashion real quick.

Huh. I find that one timeless. I love that b&w image.

Maybe not the cover, but the title "www.pitchshifter.com" makes it look like a weird business card.

BTW that url is for sale.

I would say several '80s Kenny G album covers:

The first one is very dated, but second one is actually quite appealing. I like the fonts--among other things.

Calling your album after your website makes it look very dated indeed. Here is J-Tull Dot Com from 1999 at the height of the Dot Com bubble!

I think the original Jimi Hendrix Experience albums covers are horribly cheap looking and just scream the 1960’s.
I prefer the 1993 alternative artwork versions.

The last one is the only one that could not be dated, with a different font
He looks like Brian May on 'Silhouette'
