He seems like he is heading into this with a strong determination to kick its butt. I pray he comes through like Bruce Dickinson did.

As a survivor I can say(and hopefully not sound too cynical)this disease will be beat from the ground up. It isn't going to be the government, and it probably won't be the pharmaceutical industry that will move the agenda of wellness forward. It will be us. That will mean doing a cancer walk in your town, donating not just money but time to your local hospice/cancer center. Also, though give a little money to organizations that try to help and create better processes for those afflicted to be well(mine is Dana Farber in Boston). This also means regular communication to your governmental representatives at the federal, state/provincial, and local level. Let our voice be heard, and it won't be unless we speak up. The facts are this 1 in 3 people will get diagnosed with some form of cancer in their lifetime. As hard as it is to hear this if you think there will never be chance that you will be sitting across from a doctor when he says "I've got some bad news"you maybe horribly surprised. I know I was.

If you watch this video, notice they are talking about survival in a five year time frame. Can we work toward a 10 year survival statistic? I hope so

Always loved Dave. He always brings a smile to my face (usually with some ill considered comment), brought me countless hours of entertainment since my early teens; and if the world was righteous (or at least had any musical sense) his would rightfully be the band starting with "M" that was playing stadium tours in Europe right now.

He will fight this, he will overcome this!!

Best wishes to the man (and his family).

Had he never been fired from Metallica, the world would have been deprived of this musical wonderment.

Hope he kicks it's ass. Seen Megadeth more times than anyone. Get well Dave ! You kicked Metallica's ass all over the 90s and still do IMO !

  18. Another oral cancer survivor here. It’s a hard road, but beatable. I’m rooting for you Dave!

  19. The main cause is life, itself. There's no further distillation or cogitation to make than an untrue statement.

It has been hypothesized that human beings are a cancer upon the earth. If one can accept that conceit would it then be a stretch to concede that there are cancers within the body, bent on the same destruction? As is the microcosm so is the macrocosm. Ancient stars die in deepest space and we never know it happens, as children grow malignancies far more powerful than themselves; we know not their names unless they are close. The shorter the distance the more pain we gain.

I am a happy person, though I know that we are truly ****ed.
It comes with the contract that we signed at birth and only death may void its ink.

Good prognosis. Seeing him w/o that mane of wild red hair should be the worst of it.

We "are" not cancer in and of itself upon the earth. I do not accept that. But death is one of the logical steps in a lifetime just like stars burning out and dying that is true. And no, death does not void the contract or the ink, it fulfills the contract, and completes the signed deal we are given with life.
