    They did it with Golden years but it was done in a different way and was inside an app.

    Some of the individual LPs are up for pre order on Amazon with a 15th February release date.

    Let's Dance, Tonight, NLDM (87), Serious Moonlight and Glass Spider on CD, just the three studio albums on vinyl are being released.

    I still find it kind of "dumb" that they went to the effort of making the new NLMD, have been pontificating for months that this is the version that Bowie would have preferred, but will only sell it in the big box and anyone wanting the standalone album has to have the original version.

    None of the other remix albums have been released individually. Only exclusive to the boxes.

    I am perfectly aware of that, however, considering how much they complain about the original NLMD, and praise the new version it is silly to not let more people hear it. They say oh we finally have NLMD in a form that people should love, but to hear it you have to buy all these other albums again.

    No, you can stream the box everywhere music streaming exists

    OK, to OWN it then. What's streamable today, might not be streamable a year from now.

    He was referring to the physical releases. The remixes have never been issued as stand alone releases.

    Correct. So? Has not stopped anyone from hearing them if they want to hear them. The idea that lots more people will hear them on a standalone physical media release is... questionable

    But as I said, I mean OWN. So many pedantic people on here, sometimes I don't know why I bother, everyone just wants to get one up on everyone else. Sheesh.

    I'm trying to understand how the opportunity to own it in isolation would mean more people will hear it...

    If I'm honest, any interest in this box set and/or the new remasters evaporated when I found all these needle drops of 12" discs online and I burned a CD.

    I'll still buy the live albums.

    That info was in the very first press release as usual, so no surprise there.

    Oy! Thank you! Finally!

    I'm a bit taken aback by not having the 1987 NLMD redone, but I'm glad I didn't pull any triggers early. OTOH, if past is precedent, resolutions will not be mixed, so no one's gonna get NLMD(2018) unless they buy 96/24 across the board. Like Visconti's "Lodger".

    So be it.

    And no "Re:Call", even in standard digital. So weird. (Question for the people who grabbed the lossless LTA from junodownload.com while it lasted: There was a "Re:Call" in that, yes?)

    (OTOH, the only real dead weight now on the 96/24 box is "Let's Dance".)

    Thanks for the news. Have a radically redesigned Bowie Birthday donut, fetched fresh from the bakery 2 hours ago:

    [IMG]

    For its third year, there has been a radical redesign, but if Bowie taught us anything, we should always be willing to stray from our comfort zones. Turn and face the strange donut. And try not to think about how to design a "Young Americans" donut.

    Being able to buy NLMD(2018) on its own for $11. would be nice.

    Streaming? Lossless streaming in the US means Tidal, and that means $20/mo.

    Going forward, one's choices for ownership of NLMD(2018) are:

    * the 2 physical boxes
    * the standard-res digital box, or
    * the 96/24 digital box.
    * re-sold physical discs

    None of this is an Earth-shattering surprise, but it is tired.
